I can't make baby burp
Hi ladies! 5 days ago I was frustrated about not having milk... now my bra and shirts are soaked in milk ?? my 1 week old baby is doing fine, I'm breastfeeding her on demand. The only problem is when I try to burp her. I don't hear her burping!! I tried putting her on my chest or sitting her.... nothing.... she hasn't cried so I guess she is not gassy... sometimes she spits up milk after burping her and putting her in her crib. Is that normal? Why is my baby not burping?

The first few weeks my baby didn't burp much either. When I was at hospital the nurses tried as well and she wouldn't. If she seems fine and not fussy then I think everything is ok. Try rubbing her back up and down. My mom lays my baby on her stomach and pats her and she burps right away.

My boy started properly burping after 2 weeks or so.
About the nipples mine stopped hurting around week 5.

If you are breastfeeding, it's okay if the baby doesn't burp. Your baby is not sucking in air like he would with a bottle. But I would try to keep him upright for at least 5-10 just so he doesn't spit up the breast milk.

I was told by my LC that it was ok if she doesn't burp much because, like pp said, they don't get much air. If s/he is crying before eating then maybe she'll burp since she was taking in a lot of air

Thank you ladies :) yes, I'm breastfeeding her. I try to don't let her cry before every meal, as soon as she begins making noise, I'm outing her in my breasts lol

Use 100% lanolin cream in the sore nipples... soooo soothing! You can lather it in before feeding as well, helps reduce tenderness and baby can ingest it just fine.
