pumping at work

I've come to realize that pumping at work just doesn't work well for me. The only time I actually get more than an ounce or two is the first time I pump if I haven't fed my little one anywhere from 4-6 hours before hand. He eats fine when I breastfeed him, but I just don't make a whole lot of milk the second time I pump at work. And normally I wait 3 hours before I pump again. I can only image if I pump more than twice during a 7 1/2 or 8 hour shift.

Everyone's supply drops in the arvo/evening so that's not unusual. Have you tried looking at a picture of your LO when you pump? A lot of the time women need to thought/sight/smell of baby to have a let down. Good luck

An ounce or two is perfect when pumping! Try to stay relaxed and don't rush your pumping time. Sometimes taking something of baby's helps as well.

Even if you aren't getting much out the primary purpose of pumping is to preserve the breastfeeding relationship. So if you drop pumping at work supply will go down even less. Plus everyone has rough pumping days. For me I always have lower input on Fridays and a big boost on Mondays. I also read somewhere that afternoon milk production is generally low.

Opinions on crying it out?

Opinions on crying it out? My baby is 8 1/2 months old. I've tried the no tears method and it worked a couple times but now it doesn't anymore. I do squats while holding her and rock her (21 lbs baby) for over an hour each nap all for nothing. My friend said she did cry it out and by the 3rd day her baby would only cry 5 minutes and now he's totally fine with sleeping in the crib. Opinions please? I am the only one who actually raises my kid. My fiancé does not help and I have no family that helps. So it is very hard on me. Thank you Edit: because clearly some of the women on here think I'm a monster. I am an EMT. When I go back to work, I will be gone 24 hours at a time. My daughter is almost 9 months old and cries every minute she is not in my arms. As much as I want to comfort her every second of the day, I can't. And it's better I get her used to sleeping on her own now, than not letting her cry and all of a sudden mommys gone for 24 hours at a time and she completely loses it and I can't just get off work to comfort her.
