Men's rights

With all this women's rights stuff going on I thought it'd be nice to acknowledge what unfair things men have to go through. I was talking to dh about this. He said it'd be nice to either have a changing table in men's rooms or more family restrooms available. I agree, what about dads out and about? Or single dads with their kids?

I had to do a double take at the mall when I went in what I thought was the ladies room. There was a man standing in there. I had to ask if I was in the wrong restroom. He told me no his daughter had to use the restroom. She came out of the stall about this time. She was maybe 3 or 4. I thought it was a little weird at the time, but I understand completely. He didn't want her in the men's restroom. I agree we need more family restrooms.

I read a heart wrenching blog by a man who had his baby terminated by abortion. Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice doesn't matter. This man's pain was real and the loss he felt was real. Please don't say that men don't suffer in our society. Many of them do.

Did you know that women are now more likely to be the perpetrators of domestic violence than men? We spoke to our daughters so much about "girl power" that women are now abusing their men in the home and men are taking it because there are no services to help them out of abusive relationships.

We wonder where all the good dads are, but we are not giving our boys good examples of what it means to be a father. We are raising children in 2nd and 3rd generation single mother homes. I know there are amazing moms that are doing it on their own. But without a strong role model and father figure, it leaves our boys wondering if they are even necessary when they become fathers themselves.

One, or even a handful of judges making comments about how a woman could've avoided rape is not proof of inequality, especially given how men aren't even taken seriously about rape.

Women are allowed to do what they want with their bodies. The "fight" is against them doing something with someone else's body - killing the baby and preventing anyone from giving it a voice. And that is something that just as many women feel strongly on.

The imaginary pay gap. Companies would only hire women if there was actually some widespread phenomenon where women are paid less for literally the same job, same hours etc. There are mitigating factors.

Women are equal. But pushing the idea that they're not is taking away the focus from other things that need attention. All this intersectional junk is fragmenting society.

And the problem with that is, those are the official stats used when determining funding for rape help or survivors. So when the stat is literally 0, it makes it hard to even think to include support services for men. The stats from the FBI are so skewed. The CDC has some rape stats, but they also don't include rape by envelopment as rape, it's classified as sexual assault (which it is, but there is a problem with having it in a separate category).

Rape IS rape but rape occurring woman to man is not added to FBI statistics and not recognized is what the point is.

I agree with changing rooms in men's bathrooms or more family bathrooms.

Definitely men should have paternity leave because babies need their fathers too.

Rape is rape, be it a man to a woman, woman to man, woman to woman , or man to man.

Pp that's terrible. I didn't know that.

One that pops into my head is men being raped. Even in the first FBI definition, it only said women were only subject to rape. Now that they revised it, FBI says it is rape if there is penetration of the vagina or anus. So men being raped by women don't even exist to the FBI definition of rape. Sad.

This post wasn't a "who has it worse" competition. It's just a post to discuss what things are unfair for men. We are all aware that woman had/have it rough. This was just a change of subject.

My belief is that both men and women suffer under a patriarchal society.

We are given these expectations of what society expects of us as "men" or "women" and when we can't or don't conform are judged.

Fathers can be just as great stay home parents as mothers. Mothers can be the financial caregivers of their family and still have a traditional family at home (household with both Mother and Father). No parent is more important than the other.

The state I live in they always favor the mother in custody cases. When in some cases, the mother is not the fit parent. Judges give mothers the children because she 'is the nurturing one'... idk there have been some crazy women here. One lady kept popping babies out, killing them and putting them in storage IN HER GARAGE! (Doubt hubby knew, but this type of crazy exists and should not be taken lightly)Then another woman chained her 12 yr old to a toilet for who knows how long he weighed like 60lbs! I am sure if they were in a court room before a judge with the judge not knowing living conditions those children would have been placed with the mother, only for the father to find his children dead.

I feel bad for good dads. Not every man that is not with his child's mother is a dead beat. But not every woman who has given birth is the best parent for the child to be with. #dadlivesmatter lol

Chick go back to your comments about that post and then you'll put two and two together ?

No woman is going to die in the US either.

Women in western countries are still told by male judges that they could have prevented their rape by tilting their pelvis away. Men still are fighting to tell women what they can do with their bodies. Men still make more than women for doing the same job.

Yes, horrible atrocities happen in the world and deserve attention and action. That doesn't mean the fight of western women has been won, the box is not checked, we are still not equals. The fight our grandmothers fought continues.

I don't think any woman in a Western country is under threat. Seriously. Most of the people saying this are middle class, educated women with good jobs who've never seen a smite of discrimination in their lives. You want to see a woman under threat? Go to Saudi Arabia or Pakistan where they're sold as sex slaves when they're 10 or are executed in an honour killing for being raped or something. That's where they're actually dying.

Not directing that at you personally chick, just a general response to something that I see a lot.

I think it's very unfair for women to completely dismiss men being treated unfairly. Yes women have had it rough but it's still important to acknowledge other people.

@chick I'm not saying men have it worse, or that women's rights don't matter. It was just something to talk about. There are things that men are treated unfairly about too. It was just a discussion topic.

My husband says I'm probably one of the only one who thinks this but I get a bit mad when I see disney commercials. They are always about girls being able to do what they want. There has never been one about boys being able to do that.

Today's popular brand of feminism is a joke, it really is and it's destroying society with its refusal to focus on anything affecting men. Women are infantilised and men are demonised.

The family is where the most damage is being done to men, I think. They're treated like they're not needed, like they have no say, like they can only be perpetrators and women victims. The law favours women and will have men guilty until proven innocent, rather than the other way around.

Lol @ehenzon bb don't forget ?

You know, I get really mad when people make light of men's issues. My fiancé was abused by his previous girlfriend. He had to crash on my couch in secret because there were no resources for him to turn to. Even when the crazy girl attacked him with her keys (he still has a scar on his face) and hit him in front of her daughter. He was hung up on when he called a domestic violence line to ask for help. Because we don't help men, we assume they are perpetrators.

Men are stigmatized for being womanizers; how they can't control themselves.

When boys come of dating age it's always "protect the daughter, get the shotgun ready!". Apparently only girls can be victims and they don't think about sex?

Men rarely get paternity leave. They should be encouraged to spend time with their newborns as well. It's not just moms right/job.

I agree I think it's shatty that women can go off and get an abortion, even if the man doesn't want it. That baby is half his too. Idc who it grows in.

Men are stigmatized for being sensitive or showing emotion. If they arnt the stereotypical meat head then women look down on them.

There's a ton more. And just because I'm a women and I feel like we as a country could do better for women, doesn't mean that men's rights don't count as well.

I recommend you watching the red pill. It's a very fairly new documentary done by Cassie Jaye. She considers herself a feminist and this documentary was her trying to get information about the Men's Rights Movement. She didn't think the movement was needed. Long story short, she completely changed her mind about the MRMs while working on the documentary. It was a total eye opener for her.

Lol chick but literally a month ago you were talking about how boys should be able to have feelings and show them and not be afraid so they don't grow up unhealthy men.

Guess you just like to say whatever is cool at the moment.

Нравится Ответить

A lot of these hardcore feminist movements promote the emasculation of men.

You ladies would be very surprised how many men actually feel inferior to their wives. I hate it when I hear "I have my man on lock"

OP I agree with the suggestions you mentioned.

Also a parent is a parent regardless of gender.

Men to take women seriously...

?

Why does a movement for women become so misunderstood to the point where it's still about men??

While I do agree that men do not receive fair treatment and consideration when it comes to conveineces normally given to women, since society still seems to think more women have majority of the responsibility of childcare, or that sexual assualt is taken as seriously when it happens to men. I do not personally feel that the patriarchy is suffering in many ways. ? I honestly don't feel many men "suffer," in the same ways as women, especially men of a majority anglo-saxon background.

Wow. So much for "progressive" thinking.

This isn't the part I'm worried about when it comes to men's rights. I'm more worried about the EXCEPTIONALLY unfair Family court system. The entire system acts like mom's can't stand being away from their kids, but dad's are supposed to be okay only seeing them 4 days a month. Or women being 100% in their rights not to tell the dad's they even have kids until it garners some financial gain for them. Or that women can put their children up for adoption without telling the man (though I greatly disagree that men should have ANY say in abortion). Top that with domestic violence support and the complete lack of men's domestic violence shelters (despite the fact that men are the victims of the majority of non-reciprocal violence) and I get afraid for my son.

Нравится Ответить

@chick thinking like that is the problem. How do you expect men to take women seriously about unfair treatment when women won't do the same for them?

Нравится Ответить

I second the change table/family washrooms...

This is a problem that my husband has, he's a very hands on dad, and when we are out he'd like to be able to take our ds and change him to help me out, but he can't always do that because not that many places have change tables.

I think they get unfair divorces, unfair custody agreements, women who do everything to get as much child support as possible (I'm talking about ones who abuse the system) they have to deal with false rape accusations. All kinds of things that women don't have to deal with. There's still a stigma around men showing emotion. Men also deal with fake abuse accusations, women aborting their kids without asking them if they're okay with it. (I think it's totally unfair, that's all I have to say about it. I'm not going to debate with anyone over it either.) There are unfair things both genders have to deal with. It's sad but BOTH genders need to recognize that. Women need to see men are treated unfairly just like women are too. It's not a one way street.

ETA: They also have to deal with people of believing them or caring if they're raped.

Showing emotion

Sexual assault (especially if the assailant was a woman)

So many more.
