I just replace harness straps. I get them from the company. 8.95 for this last set we got because we are using it for the new baby and with all the past juice spills, it's just safer.

If you've used Clorox wipes and are us/ Canadian your straps need replaced. The fabric is likely weakened and can fail in an accident.

You can sun them to help get rid of the smell.

For those in the states, if you've washed your straps you need to call the manufacturer & get replacements!!!! I believe this is the same for Canada & Europe as well.

PLEASE READ & FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN YOUR MANUAL.

Australian seats have different standards than US seats, if your manual says its okay then you're fine.

My manual says I can wash the straps in cold wash on a gentle cycle. I'm in Australia I didn't realize it was so different in USA

Damp cloth and milk soap like baby soap or a baby wipe, sunning will help with smell. Anything more than that is not good for the straps and if you've washed your straps they need replaced

Ok I checked the manual. It says SPONGE CLEAN the harness using warm water and mild soap. Then towel dry.

Ladies that are washing the straps PLEASE check your manuals as washing weakens the straps and can make them unsafe in an accident.

I knew I shouldn't febreeze but am just grossed out that they still smell. It must have been my old carseat that said water only, this one does say mild soap. I'll try that.

You guys! You cannot wash the straps!! You can wipe them with a baby wipe and put them out in the sun.

This happened Fri so it's definitely aired out as much as possible. Wiped them down two different times. As far as I know I think you're only supposed to use water and not submerge them. But that certainly isn't getting the smell out. ?

I usually take the belts out and wash them.

I'm pretty sure the only thing that's safe is water and a tiny bit of dawn dish soap mixed in. Can you take the seat out and leave it to air out overnight?

I don't know a lot about car seats but maybe you could try a DIY homemade air freshner? I have a lot of them pinned on Pinterest!
