My dad gave me off milk when I was about 4 or 5, have never touched it since. Makes me gag just thinking about drinking it.

2.5 hrs away? Where do you live? Thats crazy far for groceries!!!! i have 2grocery stores within a mile of me and not even counting lil drug stores or meat markets.
deleted-user·
That sucks!! Glad she is giving you free milk next time. FWIW Walmart doesn't restock their milk, bread, or eggs the companies that make/deliver them do. But someone should still be keeping an eye on them.
deleted-user·
I worked at Walmart and they don't touch the milk or eggs. The vendors do that but the manager in charge of that dept should have double check the dates. That's why they don't get there bonus they always have too many accidents happening..

I'm not a fan of Walmart at all, but it's the only store within 2.5 hours... :( I have a dollar general but they don't sell many groceries. That's why I keep going back to Walmart
deleted-user·
I don't buy groceries from.Wal-Mart, they're gross
deleted-user·
I bought bread from them and opened it that night to make my so sandwiches and it's all mold :/

I bought sour milk b4. But the date was still 2 weeks away! I think my fridge just wasn't working right. I gave some to my nephew and he kept throwing his sippy at me. Lol I know why now! I had to take it back and they refunded me. I went somewhere else.

I was at Walmart with mom last week and she was like "Hey look these baby food pouches are on sale!"
I looked at the date and they'd expired LAST MONTH.
Some poor family is gonna be strapped for cash and accidentally give their baby spoiled baby food! ?

Ew one time at a locally owned grocery store I got salad dressing that expired over a year ago! It was horrendous, they're so sketchy I've gotten bad yogurt that they put on "sale" more than once from them. And you know the brand "Simply" that makes really good lemonade?! Well they sell all their varieties and they were selling a thing of their raspberry lemonade and the pulp that settled to the top (which is off in the first place, pulp sinks) was GRAY, not pink-ish like it's supposed to be but straight up greenish gray. Took it to the cs counter and te a****** manager said of that's how it's supposed to be. BULL s*** !

Walmart doesn't give two s*** s about their customers. All they care about is money.

I shop at Walmart for a few grocery items. My smoothie frozen mix is half the cost there as apposed to Safeway. There are some things I will not buy there because it either expires in two days from purchase date or I have bought it there before and it was already expired. I bought some dole juice that expired the day before I bought it. Sometimes I forget to check the date before buying. Ugh it's so frustrating.
deleted-user·
My walmart was selling expired formula! I'm so glad I checked the date! I told the manager and refused to leave till they took it off the shelves. Disgusting!
deleted-user·
We have expired milk every once in awhile where I work. 98% of the time the date is fine on it. We aren't allowed to mess with our milk stuff either. The vendor does everything.
deleted-user·
@mymisa I didn't consider that. I used to work at publix so we handled nearly everything ourselves. The grocery manager I worked with would have had such a b**** fit over this ? but even still I think the vendor should've been more careful if that's the case
deleted-user·
At the walmart I work at, Walmart doesn't mess with the milk, the vendor comes in and takes old milk and puts new milk out. So it might not be their fault.
deleted-user·
After working in a grocery store, I gotta say, there's absolutely no excuse for this. All of those products (especially something like milk) are restocked constantly. First In First Out should always be used of course but checking dates is just a basic part of the job. I mean, really? Who does this with milk of all things :/ and if the date is too smudged to read, it should be considered damaged and disposed of accordingly by the person stocking the shelves. I'm sorry that happened to you :/ I'd be pretty pissed.
deleted-user·
Just take it back lol. If you have the receipt and all they won't make a fuss about it

@jill I only drink prairie farms milk from the carton. Idk why but it tastes better out of a carton than the jug. Well last week they didn't have any. And then yesterday they only had 1 carton.
I'm assuming they found it in the back and put it up for sale ?
Jerks

I took expired baby formula back. It was the toddler kind and I didn't realize it was expired by at least 7 or 8 months at the time. They took it back and apologized a ton for it.
deleted-user·
It certainly is there fault, there suppose to check and rotate the old milk with the new milk and get rid of the expired stuff. Ide be pissed too!
deleted-user·
This happened to me but from 711. When I was pregnant. I was so mad and scared id get sick
deleted-user·
Yeah last week I bought a sealed cottage cheese. Got home, opened it up and saw blue mold. Flipped it over, it expired in April. Good job Walmart!
deleted-user·
That makes sense. I hate it when there isn't a large amount of milk to choose from.
deleted-user·
My husband bought tortillas from there that expired 5 months ago. He's also gotten expired bread, milk, and rotten hot dogs from there. This is why I don't shop there. He goes for 1 or 2 things bc its closest. What really pissed me off is I took the tortillas back and the guy at cs counter treated me like I was a liar. I didn't want my money back, just fresh effing tortillas!

@clar Yeah It was more of a
"it's 6am in the morning and I'm 36 weeks pregnant and actually feeling good, oh let's eat some breakfast...BAM SPOILED MILK, I'm going to burn down the house"
kinda rant.

Just got off the phone with the manager. She was super nice and is checking into it. Also she said even if we don't get back to town till next week she will still offer us a free milk. ?
So now I feel better lol. But that's just a s*** ty way to start your morning ?
deleted-user·
Even if you don't drive back, I would call and let them know. That way they can take it off the shelves if it is expired or they keep having issues.

@cristi it was the only one left so I just grabbed it and went on shopping, I didn't see the date till I got home, and it is all smudged and you can't read it.
deleted-user·
Was it past the date? You should take it back either way. If the milk expired early it's really no ones fault. If you would have given it to your son he probably would have spit it out like you did. I check all the dates on my dairy products because I like to pick out the ones that will lest the longest. Always grab one from the back. Those are the newest. As far as WalMart goes, every year they are number 1 for the dirtiest grocery stores in the USA. Just something to consider. ?

@asc the thing that's sucks is I like an hour away from Walmart so we only take 1 trip a week. It wouldn't be worth the gas money to drive up there just for milk. But do you think I could call the manager or somthing?
deleted-user·
This isn't food oriented but wallmart oriented.
I needed up in the er because I was taking down a shelf and the whole box opened or was open on the bottom and all the wood fell onto my belly. If I wasn't in shock at what happened I probably would have raised a bigger deal than I did but even when i started talking to an employee there I didn't get an apologize or help with my groceries or nothing. I wanted to be like do you not see I have a big belly and your store could have killed my unborn child. Ugh.
