Halloween annoyance I love literally everything about my town....except 1 thing. Trick or treating. Most of the time…

In my town they always have trick or treating on a weekday. This year they are doing it on October 30. They have it from 6-7pm. Then they have a party at the fire department from 7-8pm. The party is nice but I would rather trick or treating be from 6-8. They play the same music, have the same decorations and snacks every year at the party. Which gets old and annoying.

Do u live in northeast Ohio by chance? Every town here celebrates Halloween on a different night. It's a nightmare. I never heard of cities regulating Halloween until I moved here.

It was like that where I lived in jersey. They would pick a day and it only went form 3-6pm and you weren't allowed to knock on doors if people were giving out candy they had to sit on their porch or in their driveway. It was the most bizarre thing I had ever seen.

I live in a small town as well, just over 2000 people. They've always done trick or treating from 4 to 7 and never done it on actual Halloween. I didn't even know this wasn't normal? I thought everywhere was like that.

I know I'm the old fart, but I would love it if my town did something like that. I've always followed that "old rules." If the light's on, you can ring the bell. If they have no Halloween decorations (ie no pumpkin on the door) then don't ring the bell etc.

Generally, I take my kids out early bc they're little so they're trick or treating w the young ones and I'll hand out candy until 8 when they go to bed. At 8pm, I turn off my front lights, put a sign up asking trick or treaters not to ring the bell bc of sleeping babies and to take candy from the buckets on the porch. But the last two years the teens that are out late at night are becoming a nuisance. Ringing the bell, shouting on my porch, egging all the cars on the block and being really loud and disrespectful. I had kids ringing my bell and screaming at 2am last year. The next morning, I'm out there with my neighbors cleaning up eggs, toilet paper and shaving cream off our houses, lawns and cars. We all have young kids and it's normally a very nice, quiet neighborhood. I'd honestly welcome a curfew on Halloween!

Also, judging from the fact that most of these teens aren't in costume and I saw a few of them wearing team jackets from a neighboring town, I think the wreckage has more to due w a football rivalry than Halloween!

Im so glad we don't have curfews or certain days. However I feel there needs to be am age restriction here. I live in the 4rd largest city in my state (however its has a small town vibe). I'm sorry if your 16+ and your not helping younger siblings or relatives I give you next to nothing. We have so many teens going around demanding candy each year.

Halloween is my favorite time of year & my town (teeny tiny) does the same thing. Usually it's from 6 to 8 and always on the weekend following.

We're like Northern it starts as soon as the school bell rings and doesn't end until 9:30-10. Basically when you run out of candy.

Wow that's terrible.

I'm almost shocked my city doesn't have a rule like that. They are so uptight about everything else here.

But all the kids go to the newest housing developments to get candy so we don't really get trick or treaters here.

Last year I had none and the year before maybe 10 at the most. It's quite sad.

How far is the next town? Because I'm thinking 2 halloweens! Double candy for all!!

I hate that too. It's scheduled on a Thursday this year (30th). They've been doing that every year where I live. It doesn't make any sense.

My town does the weekend before too, and they only do it from 5:30 to 7. I don't even get off work until 6 so by the time I drive home to get Lily and come back it's pretty much pointless.

We have a "safe halloween" (our town is pretty bad), on a different day at businesses only. But, we also have our regular Halloween on whatever day it falls on.

The businesses start at 3 all the school kids get out at 3:20 so that give the little ones a chance to be cute and slow lol and then it usually last till 8 since its a small town and not everyone gives out candy, and a lot of people have kids :)

That's lame. Part of the fun of trick or treating when I was younger was doing it at night so it was "scary" What do you go through haunted houses in broad daylight? Makes no sense lol

Yeah world....it's on Halloween this year and all the working parents are calling the wahhhhhhmbulence about it. I get it, but if you wouldn't have pushed for this stupid curfew/day change in the first place you could take your kids at a "normal" trick or treating time. IE when it's DARK OUT.

When we lived in Fayetteville nc it was like that too. Sooo annoying lol we went out driving around on halloween and it was dead. Not one person in sight

My county started moving towards doing that about 12ish years ago. Thankfully Halloweens a weekend night this year!

It really has nothing to do with the kids being tired. It's all the old people and working parents who concocted this stupid system.

If Halloween falls on a weekday they change the day trick or treating is allowed to the weekend prior.

What do you mean it's not on the day of Halloween? That's weird.
