My 6 year old and I got our nails done today. She got her first manicure and they painted Olaf on her thumb! Some people have expressed that they think she's to young to be getting a manicure. I used the manicure as a bribe to get her to stop biting her nails and if it works...I'm going to keep taking her bi weekly when I go for a fill. I remember my parents not letting me get a manicure until I was in high school. Is it really so strange for a little girl to regularly get manicures?

My daughter is almost 3 and she had her nails painted neon pink when I had mine done and it literally made her life! For the 2 days it stayed on anyways haha. I think it's adorable. :)

Yes we went to a normal nail salon. Also they didn't care at school.

@mammapope

Just out of curiosity, why such strict rules about nail polish?

Squishy I want to take my daughter this weekend. Do you go to a normal nail salon??

The fact she stayed still for it is more amazing to me! LOL

@pp: They said something along the lines of nail polish should be for adults only and not children. Meaning that it was too extravagant for little kids. I'm sure and hope that rules have changed by now.

I don't think so at all I take my nieces all the time and they are 5&7. my best friend takes her 6 year old daughter. I don't think there is a thing wrong with it

Very cute!!

Pp why didn't they allow polish at your old school? I tell the school to suck it if they told me how to raise my daughter that way.

They're so cute! Who cares what people think about the whole situation as long as momma thinks it's ok and daughter is happy! By the way do they allow her to have her nails painted at school? I remember when I was in school they would make you take it off by the next day ?

The main argument against it was because of the chemicals and the particulates from the acrylics being filed. A hair salon *to me* seems way more toxic then a nail salon and the people against it take their daughters there for hair cuts. I don't personally see an issue with it. She didn't have her head bent over my hand when they filing it. In fact she was across the room watching Journey to the center of the earth.

Some think she's too young?? Why? I think it's cute! And a great way to spend time together :)

I'm obsessed with painting my nails. I've been doing it since I was little. I can't afford to get them professionally done every week but I'm so good at it now that people think they are anyway! I've never seen painting nails as a "mature" thing to do. I always thought it was completely normal and I wouldn't think twice if I saw a little girl with painted nails.

I think its a great idea to break the habit as long as its only a mani and u arnt going to get her fake nails, what a lovely little time to spend together too :-)

I paint my 2.5 yrs old toes when I do mine so she isnt too young

Definitely not too young! Both of y'all's nails look fantastic!

Nothing wrong with that! Unless they were long acrylic nails.

I have a bad habit of sucking my fingers and I've tried painting my nails to make it stop... I end up just sucking my fingers with the nail polish on anyways. :(

I love your nails, I had got acrylic nails with blue glittered powder tips a few days before I delivered my son. I posted a pic of them for my July group and My 3 year old DD would lovvveee the Olaf nails!

I think it's awesome! It's great mommy-daughter bonding time. I remember getting manicures with my mom and aunt when I was little. I loved it. Something so simple really taught me to take pride in my appearance.

Can I be your daughter though? I want manicures biweekly! I have no time anymore ?

Just FYI I think your nails look great. I love the blue glitter tips and the length.

They didn't do any of the cuticle stuff. Just gave her a little hand/arm massage and polish.

I love her Olaf too. It's adorable. They don't charge much for her either. $10 for a manicure and polish. Which seems reasonable to me. It's not like I'm spending $50 on a manicure for her.

And I dont see a problem with getting your daughters nails done bi-weekly! Its not like shes 10 months old! And its not like shes getting french manicures or long, fake, red prostitute nails. I think its cute to paint her nails! Nothing wrong with it at all.

Just make sure they aren't cutting her cuticles only filing her nails and color. I think biweekly for a 6 yr old is a little excessive. But I don't see anything wrong with a special treat

All the young girls in my family get there nails done! Don't see a problem with that. It's just like putting nail polish on 3 year old at home.

My daughter for some reason wanted to be like her dad and bit her finger nails at 4. I talked to her and told her how it was a nasty habit and that her fingers were ugly and when she puts her fingers in her mouth that makes her look ugly. So she stopped but I was very firm when talking to her. She understood and has never done it again. But now she is 7 I do not Polish her nails I only allow it if She is having a girls night with her friends and it can only be on her nails for two days. But that's me. I hope your plan works. Good luck!

If you have money for it who cares? I wouldn't get French tips put on but if it's just a mani then I certainly don't think she's too young.

No I don't think its strange.

My dd is two and a half and every week we paint her nails something different.

She loves it. We always have her name the color and it helps with identifying them. She shows everyone and has so much fun.

I don't see the issue, if they were getting acrylic nails then ya that's too much, but painted nails? No.

It's only nail polish, if she likes it I see no problems.

I can't believe it My cousin stayed with me rent free from September 2015 to April 2016 and her stuff is still in my apartment. She's been saying she was going to come get her stuff for months. She text me this morning saying that she was going to come and get her stuff soon, and I asked her if I could have her air mattress. She tried to charge me $60 for it. The air mattress sells new for $35 on amazon and she didn't even pay $60 for it. I didn't respond and she just text me saying the $60 was for a microwave she bought me and her air mattress. When she got the microwave, it was a gift. Then when my son was in the hospital from October to January out of town, I was going to get my internet service turned off until I returned home. My cousin was doing school work online, so I paid for it while I was away so she could use it. I'm trying to figure out a response to her. ?
