No thanksgiving in my country but at Christmas this is a must in my house: Macaroni pie, pigeon peas, pastelle... Among other things but these never change

Greens

String beans

Baked beans

Mac n cheese

Ham

Turkey

Mashed potatoes

Sweat potatoes

Rolls

Chitlins -sometimes

Pigs feet - sometimes

Stuffing

Rice

Pumpkin pie

Sweet potato pie

N they eat cake I don't ??

It surprises me that so many of you aren't saying stuffing! We usually have 3 kinds, bread stuffing, meat stuffing, and wild rice/sausage stuffing.

Thanksgiving:

Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls, cream pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, jello salad, and chocolate pecan pie

Christmas Eve: ham, sour cream potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, cookies, hot chocolate

Christmas: prime rib, potatoes au gratin, Brussel sprouts with pancetta, rolls, varied pies

Corn pudding how I make it is:

2 cans of cream style corn

1 can of whole kernel corn

1 egg

About 1/4 cup of milk

Dash of cinnamon

About 1/3 cup of flour

1/3 cup of sugar

Mix all together and bake 30-40 mins @ 350°

I'm going to have to try corn pudding.. Never had it before but it sounds good!

2 can green beans, 1 can cream of mushroom, 3/4 cup of milk and French fried onions..

Stir about half of the French fried onions with the rest of the mix.. Bake about 30 min, then put the rest of the French fried onions on top, put it back in the oven for no more than 5 min.

It's so yummmmmy!

I have no idea what green bean casserole is either. I've seen it on the commercials during the holidays. It doesn't look too appetizing to me. Come to think about it, I don't think I've had any kind of casserole before.

We ALWAYS HAVE "log cabin potatoes" for Christmas eve dinner. And we all get together on the 23rd to prepare them. It's mashed potatoes formed into little "logs", then coated in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs. Then they go in the fridge overnight and are deep fried for the turkey dinner.

Can someone explain what green bean casserole is please? I've seen it mentioned so many times and I'm curious, obviously it has green beans but what else? ?
