I saw this cute baby stroller and a baby doll online at pottery barn and told my SO that I should get one for our Rome. I was joking, not because I don't think boys should have dolls, but because he hasn't expressed any interest in them. But now I'm thinking maybe I should... I'm due in July, so I thought maybe if would be a good idea. Idk. Have any of you moms done this? I know he won't quite understand yet, but why not try? It may be a good way of showing him how to be gentle with our new babe. He has learned "nice hands" and can understand sometimes that he is being rough, and is redirected every time.
My sister got her son a boy cabbage patch doll. He named him Manny and played with him while his brother was on the way. He actually liked the doll a lot more then we would have ever thought.
@sarisings, thanks. It’s so funny because I keep saying that’s a doll not a real baby. lol
My youngest actually thinks baby dolls are real babies. If he sees little kids pushing a doll stroller of holding a baby doll he has to go over and see the baby. It’s the cutest thing. He gets very excited too. He loves babies.
@sarisings, oh good. We did that with my oldest with a teddy bear. We showed him that you have to be gentle and that he can’t pick the baby up by himself. I wish I had thought of a baby doll.
Why not. It might be good to show him what a baby is and how to touch them and how you have to hold a baby.
@elisa_c4k7 That's not what I was really getting at. We're having our second baby next year, so I thought we could use a baby doll to try and teach our son about being gentle with his new brother/sister.
@mct That's awesome! We're not finding out the sex until birth so I would probably just get either or lol.
