I'm definitely getting frustrated. Nothing about giving birth went the way I wanted. My only saving grace right now is that I pumping enough colostrum for her to not need formula, but the lactation specialist thinks she's tongue tied. They also want me to try and suck train her, but between her fighting my breasts, giving in and feeding her the bottle, then snuggle/burp time, then pumping... That takes about an hour... When do I have time to sleep in any of this when they want me to feed her every two hours?
@simplicity4evaa . Condescension is incredibly uncool, but if I had seen this back them, I would have been reduced to tests. Can we not tear another down? It's hard enough being a first time mom without the judgement of those who think they know better.
@simplicity4evaa thanks for the judgement? I had just been through four days of labor that ended in an emergency c section. I had to watch as my parents and husband held my daughter before I could and was frustrated with the fact that the only thing I had left was breastfeeding, and she still can't do that. Who are you to judge me? Please, forgive me for being so exhausted to days after labor that I just wanted a nap and couldn't f***ing get one because of the schedule the nurses had me on.
Girl: You are a mother nap. Sleeping for you is foreign. There is NO time for sleep EVER! And if you came to sleep pst lemme tell you something good luck! Since you just had your baby of course you’re going to need to feed more often duh! Like what the hell? You sound like you’re complaining but having a child isn’t all fun and dandy! Good luck ! Still through it and have patience. Thats all, positivity will take you far.
I had simmilar experience. LO was not latching correctly and my nipples were killing me. Lactaction consultant was so rude at the hospital I almost lost it with her!! She said “I will hand express some colostrum” and she grab my boob and press on it. It was the most disgraceful thing woman can do to woman in front of moms husband. I wish now I said new things to her. After this experience I never wanted to hear “Lactaction Cons” again!!
I ended up pumping and using a bottle. There are pluses and minuses of this, LO figured out that flow from the bottle was faster than from a boob, so at some point she refused a boob completely.
Just do what’s working for you and your baby. If she is not hungry in 2h, try every 3h. THEY don’t know your baby, only you do, so I wouldn’t listen to all that they’ve recommend. Plus, baby feeds supposed be every 3h unless she/he is a premie.
And technically, napping is SLEEP!
