So I've just noticed the my daughter has a lip tie. I don't understand how I or her doctor haven't noticed it sooner. Now I'm beating myself up over it because it all makes sense as to why it was hard for her to latch. Anyone had experience with this and did you leave it alone or get the surgery, pros and cons??

@skylarskeeper526, The nurse told me that it can possibly affect his speech in the future. Just keep an eye on things, but I wouldn't worry too much. People go through their whole lives not knowing they have one and they're just fine 😊

@skylarskeeper526, I got his tongue tie clipped because they told me it could effect his speech but they said usually the lip tie breaks itself as the melt grows but there will be a gap 😞

@dazzlingmommy, @kristinajohnson6, my daughter is 14 months now... they say it's a cosmetic surgery and that it's not really needed unless it's causing issues... but I'm also worried about it causing a gap in her teeth and it causing a lisp or messing with her speech.

@dazzlingmommy, I had the same experience! My son was tong tied and lip tied. He tore me up when trying to latch. I eventually just decided to exclusively pump and bottle feed.

My son had it too. Thankfully the nurse noticed it in the hospital and I got it clipped, but we still had trouble latching and the pain was unbearable at times.
