I've been having the hardest time with my 3 years old. He is has been peeing on the toilet since before he turned 2. Well he just turned 3, and I still can't get him to do the grand number 2. He refuses, he seems terrified of pooping only when it comes to going on the toilet. Anyone delt with this? Any suggestions?
We have a training toilet, and I have tried rewards. I hate to admit this but I've even tried bribery. Nope nada.
Oh we also have a small toilet for him. He doesn't like going into the big toilet yet. We put it in between a table and a bench and he holds his hands on either side and leans back 😂 its like watching an old man I swear!
Yea my son loves his daddy so much. Every time he does a poo on the toilet, I let him hold my phone and FaceTime daddy at work to tell him the big news! He goes, "dada poo toyet" all proud :) so that is kind of like his "reward". We make a really big, exciting deal out of it pretty much!
I have not yet potty trained, but some people do rewards like a sticker chart with stars, candy treats, a toy for winning or doing a good job. Getting his own potty and letting him get used to the size and not feeling terrified, or watching someone use the bathroom so they learn and become confident. Or showing them with a toy they like that their toy can go to the bathroom. Those where ones I read about. :)
Aw! Hm... what do you think is so scary to him about it? What do you think about him going pants-less for a few hours a day (around pooping time). That's also worked for me. My son was refusing, too. But the few times that he went on the floor and saw that I was upset, and made him help me clean (sort of, not actually letting him touch anything) he started running to get me to come sit with him while he went in the toilet! Now, he just goes to the toilet himself. This sounds gross, but I set the toilet up right outside of the living room. That way since he's in the living room a lot, he wouldn't have far to run if he realized he had to go last minute.
