Has anyone that's breastfeeding had a dr tell you your baby needs to take a multivitamin? My baby had problems at birth. None of which was vitamin or mineral related. They were due to the ob not doing their job. I have done my research and can't find any reason to give him any besides if I have any deficiencies or he don't get sun light. And neither of those are a problem. The vitamin makes him throw up. I say it's better to get his nutrition and no added vitamins then to throw up and get neither. At a check up they told me that I needed to start giving them to him again that it's important cause he's breastfeeding. Like I'm pretty sure boobs were made to give a baby everything they need.
Why would they not recommend just going outside? Fresh air is a bonus! Pharmaceuticals..I swear.
That's what I read about the vitamin d but I still do take prenatals and his ped (who has never said anything about him needing vitamins) told me today that 15 min of sun is enough for a week and we spend about 15 a day outside or he gets cranky lol
My baby was born premature, and his first pediatrician prescribed him a multivitamin. Babies get all the vitamins they need from your milk besides vitamin D, and that's because even we don't get vitamin D from food, we get it from the sun. So I just make sure we get sunlight during the day by taking short, frequent walks. Babies don't need vitamin supplements unless they have specific deficiencies
I give vitamin d drops to my little girl but she's breastfed and lacking the vitamins she needs but if baby is bottle fed just drop them in the bottle.
