Q1: Welcome @weeyogismommy! You’re a new mom. We would love to hear how you kept fit and you prepared with your birth through yoga. Please tell us your thoughts about pre and post natal yoga and how it helps before and after birth. #momlifechats
During pregnancy I also enjoyed so many other types of workouts! And it really depended on the day! I think that is so important for mommies to know that everyday is different and how you feel in your body and mind can and should influence the kind of mommy workout you need! Somedays I would love to do 5Rhythms dance, which for those of you that don’t know it, it’s more of a free flowing dance format, and other days I would do West AFrican dance! I would also do BarWorks which is a form of Barre fitness! Barre has great to build grounding and strength I needed for giving birth! But I think it’s important for mommies to know to lay off the abs for awhile. It’s time for our bellies to expand. It was great for me to focus my workouts on legs, pelvic floor, back and arms. All things that I needed during birth and to take care of my little.#momlifechats
m a huge advocate for yoga throughout your pregnancy & motherhood journey. Prenatal yoga helped me stay intuned with my body, and relieve mama to be aches and pains, and besides the physicals benefits, yoga helped and helps me stay somewhat sain! Hormones are no joke! And they sent me into anxiety attacks before labor and the weeks after. Yoga, breathing and mindfulness were key to help me relax and be able to function.#momlifechats
Now that I’m on the other side, and I have my sweet little angel with me. Yes, workouts are a little harder to fit in. So we do a lot of Mommy and baby yoga and Pilates. Also, long long walks have been key and then doing our own private yoga and barre workouts have been amazing. The first couple of weeks I just did long walks with my little one in the stroller. Then when I had the ok to workout from my OB. I started with yoga again which I so needed. And now month 3 I’m back into dance and Barre. I must say though, it’s amazing to get to work-out and do yoga with my little one and with other mommies and babies. Its low stress and if you need to pause and breastfeed or tend your little cutie that’s totally fine.
