I'm seriously so scared of my baby choking while I'm asleep. I'd rather stay up all the time while he sleeps. Is there something I can do to prevent it from happening?

And try swaddling him with his arms out of the blanket i had to do that for my son because he liked to have his arms and hands free@megannw

My son did the SAME thing. I was a semi hard sleeper before he was born but i swear once he was born and we were home, i turned into this light sleeper that wakes up to EVERY noise he makes. When he spits up, day or night, use a nose sucker to suck all the stuff out so that he doesn't choke on it and also lay him on his side. Since he does roll to one side while he's sleeping he has a less chance of choking if he spits up. Other than that, you would definitely have to stay up all night to prevent him from choking. Try not to worry mama! You'll be surprised how your body adjusts to having a baby around and the noises you will wake up to or think you hear but really don't. @megannw

Hey mama you could also look into an owlet monitor it's a little dock that goes on your babies foot and will alert you if they're not okay. If their levels get too low or they stop breathing. It's a little pricy but hey you can't put a price on your piece of mind and sleep

Those nose bulbs also helped to get it out. I placed the tip of the bulb in the cheek pocket when I heard gargling or saw bubbles. I was pulling slowly as to not hurt him. There was a lot of muscle for a few days but the first day he projectile vomit a lot of amniotic fluid. He's got to get that it so any puking or spit up is his body getting rid of it so he can get nutritional milk.

Good luck!

I roll up a hospital blanket and place it behind his back and butt. It supports him and lets the crap drain out of his mouth. He had a lot of amniotic fluid he swallowed and so the first few days were a lot of gargling and puking. It scared the begeesus outta me. I kept him close and made sure he wasn't face up.

You will probably be hyper vigilant for a while so you will hear his little coughs and check on him a lot.

@mrs.n2014 he moves alot wen he's sleeping and doesn't like being swaddled, he'll cry until he can move his arms. The nurses told us to wrap a blanket around him to keep him from rolling but then that scares me he'll put his face into it.

Aw! You need sleep too momma. But I was exactly the same way. It will get less scary and you'll feel more comfortable.

Yep I know! I never thought about it either. Right after he was born he had so much left over fluid that he was constantly bubbling and like gasping. Once he's not so brand new it'll get easier. But I still wake up all the time just to check on him.

@jsco omg that's so scary! I can't even imagine.

The other night I was about to go to sleep and heard him like gasping for air, it's just alot of fluids from birthing him. But ever since then I just think like what if I woulda been sleeping. The car would be helpful but it still wouldn't get rid of my worry like what if I don't catch it in time.. ugh being a mom is hard, nobody ever told me how much worry comes with it

I'm scared of it happening too. Unfortunately unless you stay up all night there's nothing you can physically do. My son was really sick the other night and I woke up to him choking on his barf and it was definitely scary. When he starts making choking noises I make sure you roll him on his side if he's laying down, or I lean him over my arm so I have access to patting him on his back. Maybe you should look into taking a cpr class so you feel better about it?

My doctor also recommended me getting the flu shot while pregnant ? I'm not sure if I want to or if i should ? It's all scary to me !! What do you ladies think ? Did you get the flu shot while pregnant ? Are there any risks? Or should I wait ? I'm so scared of taking anything while pregnant , much less getting this shot.. He said it isn't mandatory , just recommended.
