Anybody ever had a perm? I want curly hair SO bad and my hair dresser says people really only actually get perms for body not like style. She says you still have to style your hair. In my mind, with a perm I could just throw product in it and scrunch it while It dries but she says that's not how it goes. Anyone with curly hair ? Anyone??

My mom just did a perm the other day on some girl that had hair down to her butt, it was thick as molasses, and coarse. She definitely was not looking forward to doing a perm on hair like that being the fact that this girl wanted tight curls. You're going to have a hard time getting a perm like those 3 pictures you posted. Your hairdresser can try but expect it to not come out exactly like that and if it does, the curl will fall out before its supposed to. If your hair is really thick and you have a lot of it that or she think she might be doing all the hard work of doing a perm just for it to fall out that could be why she's trying to turn you against a perm. My mom has been a hairdresser for 30 years and she does the same thing, she does her job but she does let girls know whats going to happen to their hair before they get whatever they are trying to get. @mmegan0541
See that looks so like, effortlessly perfect. In my mind it's be super easy for after the baby comes. Did it drive u nuts having all that hair around your face and not being able to tuck it behind your ears or did you enjoy it? Was yours called a spiral perm?
I got one when i was 14 and it lasted until i was 17 until it outgrew and then i just chopped the rest off. I got it med tight not like tight tight but med curls. I loved it. Mousse and some hair spray and lets go. 1 to 2 min job. 😊😆😉
Well sheesh now I really want it! Lol. I'm getting it dyed on Thursday she said she can't do a perm and a dye on the same day which makes sense so I'll let it go for now lol but it sounds like I might need to hound her a little more for the hair I want
I got a perm at this fancy salon in la and it never took mind you it was someone else's hair dresser who did their perm all the time make sure your hair will actually hold it
There are all sorts of different perms, but as far as "styling" just moose and hair spray. Don't brush it! Pick it with a pick it wiiide tooth comb. I loved all 4 of my perms. I have curly hair now, but it's out of control. Lol I got a perm to tame it and redirect it
I have had 2 perms, and want another one. All I ever did was pick it out, put product in, and scrunch. I miss my curly hair. Lol
That's exactly how it goes you put it out of your face throw some product in there and scrunch it and you're set for the day. Most stylist hates perms. Sounds like she just doesn't want to give you a perm. Depending on the cross eyes some women do it just for body but most do it for the actual curl because it's easier and quicker to do your hair with curly hair. If you know what you're doing LOL

What products do you use to make the curls looks pretty and not crunchy? My daughters hair is so curly and idk what to do with it! We’ve tried Shea moisture kids and I’m not a fan!!
My hair is very thick and coarse and just a few inches past my shoulders but it holds a curl so so well. U think I'd be unhappy with it or do you think she just doesn't want to do it cuz it's time consuming?
