The man I'm with now isn't the biological father of my baby, if I was to marry him could I give my child my new last name? Or could I get in trouble since he isn't the biological father?
You can give your baby whatever name you want but me personally i wouldn't put him as the child's father on the birth certificate only cause it's for the biological parents even tho he would be raising the child that's my opinion tho @melly_17 the only way I could see it being right is of the biological father signs over his rights then he could adopt the child and be on his birth certificate
My mom married when I was 2 yrs old to someone who isn't my biological father. She took his last name and I kept her maiden name.
Okay thank you! :) I'm just curious because I don't want to get in trouble if the biological father tries to come into my child's life
If you marry him, an your last name changes which it most likely would. (?) You can legally give the baby your last name, no questions asked. My mom was married to my dad, an gave my sister her last name which is my dads last name even though my dad is not the biological father. No, you can not get in trouble. @melly_17
So even though my boyfriend isn't the child's biological father i could give my baby his last name before we get married?
