STEPMOMS: My two year old step son is attached to my hip. If I leave he crys and he calls me mama. I've been in his life since he was 4 months old. I raised him while the bio mom did whatever she does. She chose to be absent from her kids lives and only sees them once every couple of months. When she does come around my two year old wants nothing to do with her cause she is a stranger to him. The bio mom is mad at me and blaming me. How is this fair? The little boy chose me and I chose to love him unconditionally and treat him like my own.. am I wrong for doing so??

You are absolutely not wrong! That's what step parents are supposed to do! 💜 That little boy needed a momma and you stepped up. From your post it sounds like you are more of a mother than she is. That's her own fault for not being involved in her child's life.

@scurlock.mommy Yeah I've never left his side and raised him as he was my own. The mother is supposed to have the kids every weekend but she goes up to six months without seeing them

You took that child in when his mom wanted nothing to do with him if anyone is wrong its her. You're his mom screw her. She cannot come in and out of her childs life when she wants and think hes going to know who she is.

@andrewsmommy Thank you I really need that.

@ablaub, your killing it as a bonus mom (we use the word bonus you don't step on people you love) maybe deep down she's jealous she didn't step up when she needed to and you did and they're not even your kids at the end of the day you know you're doing the right thing and that little boy needs a mom and you needed a little boy. Anyone can give birth it takes a real woman to be a mom you know when people hate your doing something right so don't let her bring you down! Just keep your head up and do what you do best..be a Mommie!

@ablaub NO NO NO!!! You absolutely are not wrong! You are doing what every GOOD MOM would do! Keep doing what youre doing momma, just be prepared for some crazy confusion when he gets older but stay strong! Ive got a step daughter and her mother has seen her 3 times sense her father and I got together(shes older though) it has been a crazy ride with her crazy ass mother but kids are smart and know whats up. Keep doing what youre doing and try NEVER to talk bad about her to anyone (including your husband) infront of him. When he gets older there will be some questions and try to be as understanding and soothing as possible.

@b3autifulm3ss thank you it just breaks my heart to see her hurt her kids. I honestly wish she would give up her rights and let me adopt but that isn't going to happen. My biggest fear is her all of a sudden wanting to be mom and takes them aways from me. I can't handle that and my husband says he won't allow that so I'm hoping that day doesn't come

@b3autifulm3ss @kelleycrew7362 He is my shadow I quit my job to be a stay at home mom cause I felt so bad leaving him while he screams for me. He has a 4 year old sister that is in counseling cause she has mommy abandonment issues and crys for mom and mom won't do anything about it. I try my hardest to make her feel loved and she knows I love her but no matter what I do I won't be mom to her. I'm praying konnor never has to deal with that.

@ablaub just keep everything documented, literally write it all down, when she sees them, when she is supposed to, what is said, what their reactions to mom are (the good, the bad, and the ugly) I doubt it will happen but if she gets a wild hair one day and thinks shes going to step up and be a better human, you will have "proof" of her negligence to be a mom. Example
Oh Monday February 23, 2012, Rebecca came over to pick up Bobby for a visit. Bobby said to me (Karen) "bye mommy." Rebecca was very upset and yelled at Bobby, "SHE IS NOT YOUR MOMMY, I AM!" Bobby started to cry as Rebecca picked up Bobby and put him in the car, all the while yelling expletives at me (karen) and his father..... so on and so forth 😊 This really is just a word if advice momma, ive been through both sides of the system and that is probably one of the best things ive learned 😉 hang in there and if you ever need to talk, im here. Its hard sometimes

@b3autifulm3ss thank you so much. At least someone understands me. Everyone else is like "why do you care so much they aren't your kids?". I may not be bio but they are my kids!

I agree with @b3autifulm3ss, document everything even if it seems silly it's better to be over prepared than under prepared. @ablaub, your amazing women! I will be praying for your little family and that your daughter comes around. Maybe she's just afraid that you're going to leave too so she doesn't want to get close to you just keep on lavishing her with your love and praises and one day she will open up to you when she realizes you're not like her other mom and you're not leaving

@kelleycrew7362 @ablaub yes, abandonment issues are a tough one, i personally have them. Just keep up what you're doing with her and she will come along once she realizes you arent going anywhere 😊

@b3autifulm3ss @kelleycrew7362 Yeah I'm not going anywhere these kids are my life and I told my husband that if anything were to happen between us I would still want to be a part of the kids lifes

@tattooedmomma it's so hard cause I find myself hating her for what she is doing to these kids. She is too selfish to open her eyes and is all about money. She goes from men to men and I'm almost positive her current man doesn't even know she has kids. It's like she comes when she wants she gets their hopes up and crashes them and I'm left here cleaning everything up
