I have a SERIOUS question. My friend went to her anatomy scan today and her doctor said "She's in the 33rd percentile for weight and her femur is in the 22nd. He explained it as 2/3 of babies are half as bigger than her and 1/3 are smaller at her gestation" could the babies small weight and little weight gain be because of her smoking cigarettes during pregnancy?

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, that's exactly what the way she thinks. She got on this stupid mom group on Facebook and a few said they smoked and didn't affect their baby so she got that mentality.
I just posted on Facebook about how much I HATE that commercial today because I had a preemie and that shits painful. I didn't hurt my baby and it made me feel worse. Unfortunately people have this "it won't happen to me/my baby" mentality until it does. 😪
Ive showed her that one commercial of the mom that smoked while she was pregnant and the baby was in a ventilator thing and the mom said "here's a tip for moms who smoke while pregnant, talk through the hole so the baby can hear you better". It breaks my heart. I just hope actually hearing it IS affecting her baby makes her have second thoughts about smoking while being pregnant @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom,
Yeah that could possibly be it, or a genetic factor. There's a video somewhere, I'm sure it'll be on YouTube, of an ultrasound being done as a mom is smoking and you watch the baby look like it's suffocating and making grossed out faces. Maybe you could send that to her.
Yes. Women who smoke during pregnancy tend to have smaller babies. It's definitely not a good thing.

@jlf240, she smokes like a pack a day and I keep telling her to stop. She'll go a week without then continue the week after. Ugh

Baby won't bear weight on leg
I have a walking 10 month old and she has been extra fussy yesterday and today. Today I noticed she didn't really want to crawl, she would just cry until I came and picked her up. If she was further along I would offer a picture of my itty bitty when he was born. I didn't smoke or so anything, but he was born very prematurely && maybe if she saw a picture of a baby who came early she would realize how stupid she's being.
