Caffeine isn't the best choice in pregnancy. It's known during 1st trimister there's a chance of miscarriage. 200 MG is known to be okay, but did you know that having to much caffeine in you're body flushes out the calcium & beneficial key nutrients in you're body...
Oh, and if you're looking for energy, B vitamins are a great healthy source of energy. You could get a bottle of B vitamins and take one during your shift when you feel sleepy and it should give you a bit of pep.
I'm assuming you drink caffeinated soda if you're saying you need it to keep you awake. Caffeine does increase the chance of miscarriage slightly, but if you're drinking it in moderation the chances are very, very low. Unless you are at a higher risk for miscarriage, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you're drinking a huge Big Gulp full of the stuff. In that case you should definitely cut back. Taper off your intake by decreasing how much you drink each day so you don't have withdrawal symptoms. Like, if you're drinking 48oz of soda every night I would decrease a few ounces each night until you're only drinking 16oz or so. I drank a cup of coffee pretty much every day of my pregnancy. It wasn't a huge venti cup--just a normal mug full from home. Everything in moderation.
