What are your mommy opinions on smoking weed (in moderation) while breastfeeding
@chayhale, you aren't starting anything hun 😊 and my comment wasn't meant to sound hateful or anything I know you were coming from a good place I just didn't want anyone thinking I smoke 😂😬😊
I know , everyone's got their own opinion I wasn't trying to start anything with anyone, I'm sorry if it came across that way @amberjacq
@chayhale, I'm not a smoker or anything I was just giving my opinion telling her what could possibly happen
If you get your card and do it the right way by getting it from a dispensary it shouldn't be laced @amberjacq
My sister smoked and breastfed she produces a lot of milk, baby is healthy , developing good and is a little overachiever just like her mama lol I don't see a problem with it but it's all about if you feel comfortable with it or not.
That's exactly what I do, and I don't do it often but i was doing it more when my PPD was bad. A bowl before bed with my SO so we had something to bring us back down after a long, tiring day. And it has made nursing so much easier on me. My son is meeting every milestone a month earlier than my daughter ever was and he's my little cannababy. I've been looking into it for the past few years and I finally reached a point where I decided it was okay for me. I have recently switched to CBD oil which I use as medicine and it's a life saver.
@madismommy, @motherlotus long ass comment I wrote has all the info I found online about it from several different sites
Damn sorry for the long post @iced.peachytea I didn't realize it was that long. @amberjacq what do you think about all that information
@iced.peachytea, so I've been doing some research about it and basically all the websites say the same thing: that it's hard to know if it has any effect on the baby until they are around 1 year old and even then they aren't sure. It's just a possibility that it could make their motor skills develop slower than average. Like their hand-eye coordination and stuff like that.
It also says that babies whose mothers smoked do have thc in their urine so they do know that the baby is getting it from the milk, but that it's not enough to give them a high because it's released really slowly through the milk.
Another thing it said that was concerning me was that I guess thc makes your body produce the hormone prolactin a lot slower than it usually would be produced because it's the main hormone needed to make breastmilk. So if I smoked a lot of weed all the time I could potentially make my boobs start producing less.
But I don't even want to smoke a lot. I want to smoke like a bowl or two before bed with my husband to relax and help me sleep. Also it's just nice to do something more 'adult' with him since everything in our lives is always about our baby.
does it go to your breast milk ? if it does then I would say don't do it
in my opinion.... sorry but pleAse name a time when weed ever hurt someone? your fine darling
@giananiicole, I've been doing alot of research on it too and found the same info as you. I think it's just what we feel comfortable with honestly. I think weed is safer than alcohol and people drink and breastfeed and drs say it's safe as long as you don't breast feed while feeling drunk. Weed would make me feel way more comfortable to consume before breast feeding than alcohol that's just me though
