I've been thinking a lot about giving a family member temp custody of Isabelle. Not because I don't want her, not because I don't love her, but because I want what's best for her, and I don't think that's me at this moment.
Three weeks ago, I overdosed and tried to take my own life. I've struggled with depression for a long time and then add in the postpartum hormones, it just spun out of control and I did nothing to contain it (why it's important to tell someone, ladies!!). Anyway, I spent 4 days in the CCU and 10 days in a behavioral hospital to make sure I got better. I got released last week when my insurance ran out.
Since then, I have been a complete mess still. I don't feel like I'm mentally capable of handling my daughter. I cry any time I hold her, and I don't know why. I just want time to get my shit together so I can be the best mom I can be, because at the moment, I am not that. Now, going through this miscarriage, it's gotten even worse. I just sleep all day and cry.
Has anyone gone through temp custody? What did you do? How long did you take? What is the process? I'm so afraid of negative backlash, people thinking I'm crazy or that I don't want her...it's none of those things. I just want to be able to give her a good life and for her to remember me as a good mother, and right now I don't feel like a good mother. I don't feel like a good person at all. I don't know how to handle everything on my plate. I wish I'd had more time to repair. I dunno what to do.

In my eyes , you ARE a good mother . Wanting what's best for your baby & making hard decisions , to make that possible , that makes u an amazing mother. Don't let anyone tell u different . Good luck momma

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say I am SO sorry you are feeling this way, I am SO glad your attempt wasn't successful, and you are meant to be on this Earth. my friend gave temporary custody of her daughter to her grandma for 6 months. it's Never easy to admit when we need help. But I salute you for admitting it. I hope and pray No dumb B**** comments anything Negative on here. But if they do just don't pay them any attention. Your doing what's best your your daughter and their opinion is irrelevant. The only advice I can give you is make sure whoever you give temporary custody of your princess knows once you get back on you and feet your daughter comes back home to you. HAVE THIS IN WRITING and make sure you and whoever you choose to give temporary custody signs it and understands . I wish you nothing best the best and I salute you for getting the help that you need. Also make sure you put in the paperwork if you want visits or not. My friend opt out for visiting her daughter until she was better. Good luck momma and remember it's not a easy choice but your putting your daughter first and that makes you a awesome mother in my eyes . I wish you the best momma 😊

It takes a village. There is nothing wrong with letting your village help. If anything it so just how much you love her. I've had many students who's grandparents helped raised them and they are happy, heathy kids. The more people that love the kiddo the better!
