Ladies, i need to start supplementing with formula every once in a while bc I don't always produce enough breast milk…

I did the same I LOVED gerber baby gentle my daughter loved it no funky smell like enfamil no issues pooping or with gas etc now I had to used enfamil because that's what wic gives me and I couldn't afford to buy it anymore since my supply is really low

I'm used to it now that funk smell lol my daughter doesn't mind it now it took time to settle in her tummy and work around the gas and constipation but that clear in 2-3 days I also added cereal to make her life better lol the thing is I was so weirded out because gentle gerber didn't bubble or anything and enfamil did I felt it was smoother but hey she doesn't mind enfamil at all

Ok thank you! I will probably try the Gerber first. How do you know how much to give them if your supplementing? Like do you give them breast milk first and then a little formula at the end? I have no idea what I'm doing!!! 😖 @mimiz

Ok cool so whatever you pump if it isn't enough try supplement with 1 oz at a time and keep going up half until you see baby is satisfied IE spitting milk out pushing nipple out not screaming lol and remember it's gonna be tough formula is gonna cause a bit more gas so make sure you burp after boob and give the bottle or stop every two ounces so they don't build up to much I used mylicon for a while drop a bit right into the bottle and it helped

How do u know u don't produce enough

Sometimes he acts like he's still hungry after I pump everything out. And he's drinking everything that I pump so I'm not able to store any milk. I wanna be able to leave him with my sister in law sometimes. I only pump about two and a half ounces each time @zaysmomma

You only pump? Cuz two and half oz is normal if he's on the boob too. I'm almost 6 months strong bf and get an oz out when I pump if I'm lucky because they baby is getting everything while he's on the boob. Plus ur only a month pp, your supply probably isn't at its peak! Supplement now but still keep pumping! It'll get there 💙😊

What do you do if you have to leave him with somebody? Bc that's my dilemma... I want to go out and do things and let my SIL watch him but I never have enough milk to leave with her @zaysmomma

I'm lucky he's slept thru the night ever since a month, so if I ever wanna go out for a couple hours I can and he stays home with gma. Other than that during the day he eats every two hours so I either bring him with me everywhere or I can only be gone an hour lol

Oh man 😞 breastfeeding can be tough sometimes but it does have its benefits. I'm going to keep pumping and see if my supply increases @zaysmomma
