I just can't seem to get breastfeeding down correctly. I've had to pump. And I've been repeatedly told by doctors "don't solely pump or you won't get all the benefits". I'm not meaning to pump all the time. But my daughter is aggressive towards my nipple. Anything that enters her mouth actually..... She even got herself the nickname "Piranha". She refuses to feed off the left boob. Had a lactation specialist come in 3 days in a row to try and "help" and we got nowhere. She has a favorite side as some babies I guess do. So the specialist said that will have to be pumped. I feel terrible because I can't get it right. :/ Doctors are making me feel bad because I may have to exclusively pump....
What do I do :/
I have to use a different position for my left side too or he won't latch on..believe me its hard I also thought about giving up but I can't..& its only been a week so hopefully it will get better soon my nipps are just sore but tolerable
@imhermomduh, @kirt @shayleighnikole thank you guys. I was on the brink of switching to formula last night. I thought it through though and I am not going to give up. I know it's what is best for her. And my Obgyn said as long as she's getting fed it doesn't matter if it's in a boob or bottle. Just to take my time I needed
It takes time momma! Don't get too frustrated. Maybe try a different position for your left boob but just keep offering her the boob first before pumping. It took me a month to get my baby girl to latch and we breastfed for a year+ afterwards. Just take deep breaths, she's new to this world and just needs practice. You got this!
Get a nipple shield!! That's what I did and it made things 1000 times easier. Especially with her being so aggressive.
@mommyof2_88, it's been 6 days here. So I feel you.
