So I backed my van into my husband's truck and he is furious. Not bc I hit his truck, it did no damage to his vehicle, but bc I dented our new van. The backup camera didn't beep at me, he said it's bc his truck was parked and it doesn't sound an alarm when it's a parked vehicle. That it only sounds an alert when a moving vehicle is close to hitting you. Anyone know about this? I think he's planning on calling Toyota tomorrow, I guess I shouldn't of relied so heavily on the backup camera but I'm the pregnant one, and it's my van that I dented. So why is he so pissed off at me?

The one on my truck goes off for EVERYTHING! Half the time, I can't even figure out what it's beeping at. I try not to rely on it too much and use my mirrors for most of it with an occasional glance at the camera.
your backup sensors will beep no matter what you're close too. mine beep if I get to close to tall grass lol it should have went off

@kedrababy, does pregnancy make you more laid back too? I'm like I have enough to stress about carrying these babies without letting a little dent bother me.
@beauandleosmom, lol he sounds like my mom when I backed into her neighbor's truck. She bitched the whole time n I'm like its my car and im the 1 who has to pay the man but she's more upset than me
@kedrababy, you would think I hit someone else's car the way my hubby was flipping out. Like seriously the whole way to the airport he was bitching me out. He said how can you make an insurance claim against yourself 😂 I think if we weren't married he would sue me lol. Thank goodness he calmed down.
@beauandleosmom, 🙈 im not either but I've never hit anybody else's car until being pregnant so idk I think it's just additional stress that's distracting
@kedrababy, lol. I hate to think I'm losing my skills and I honestly can't blame pregnancy bc I've backed into a rock and a telephone pole with my car and almost ripped my side mirror off at a sonic stall. I'm just not good at backing up and need to do better. 😔

Thanks @britt16 and @mommypanda, I really think I need to get the camera checked out. Maybe not test it out myself, but at least get it looked at since I feel strongly that it used to beep at stationary objects.
@asears23, I could of sworn it beeped at me when I got close to hitting the building behind our driveway, but I guess not. I'm afraid to test it, esp with you agreeing with my husband. He wants to call to see if the warranty will fix it. Do you think they will?
Every vehicle we have had with the backup camera beeped at everything, moving or not. The van we tried out that we thought about getting did the same.
@kedrababy, I think it has impacted my driving too, I'm further away from the pedals and my foot kind of eased off the break the same day while we were in the drive thru and I almost rear ended the vehicle in front of me. He said maybe you don't need to drive anymore. I said maybe you're right. He drove all today lol.
hmm thats weird because we have a titan 2016 and it beeps for EVERYTHING even if we are close to a wall or close to hitting a parked car.. but we are nissan could be different
I have the same vehicle and your husband is right. When you're backing up it only beeps when a person or vehicle is moving.
Idk but I backed up into my neighbor's truck. Aghh I think pregnancy has affected my driving 😒
