@madisynmommie, yeah because when you feel all of it you clench from the pain which makes it harder to dialate. I went from a 3 to a 7 in no time after getting it because I was able to relax and let my body work
I think you just changed my mind lol thank you, heck no I ain't getting that ..... @6215teenmom that's not true if you get it too soon statistics show your chances of having a C-section is higher because it can cause you not to dilate
I'm with @6215teenmom I was 5cm dilated and in less than 20mins I was fully dilated...was induced the day before so the epidural definitely speed up my labor!
@cubanese, my doctor even told me that the epidural helped me dilate because I was able to not have to strain against my contractions but each to their own opinion👍
I'm thinking I'm gonna try my hardest with this one to go without. if you're being induced the pain is unbearable that you have to have it. but I'm really hoping I don't need to be induced with this one bc I wanna go onto labor on my own.
I had no epidural with my daughter (natural) and the pain was excruciating. She was 6 lbs 3 oz. so I opted for the epidural with my son. 9 lbs 1.7 oz. IT DID NOT WORK! I still had excruciating pain, almost went into shock (didn't even know the cord was wrapped around his neck) 😩 then after delivery I had severe migraines and stiff neck for 4 days. I had to crawl to the restroom. I'm def opting for an epidural this time (better hospital) because dr told me it was one of those situations where it was put in wrong. I can't handle the pain of labor and I have a HIGH tolerance for pain.
I had to get an epidural due to a c section. I was so upset because I wanted to go natural. Since epidural my recovering has been in my can due to epidural I think. If you can go without an epidural I say go all natural
I went to 7 with my first without it but the epidural didn't work for me so I went natural and all the pain made me black out and eventually I passed out from the pain and my bp raised. With my second I went to 8 and they gave me something called a block. I didn't feel shit couldn't move my legs from it numbed me shit I didn't even feel giving birth. Damn straight I'll do it again.
See I don't have a high tolerance for pain ... But everyone is scaring me lol idk which one would be best .. I guess I'll have to wait and see @morganmommy79
@madisynmommie, just let the dr know ahead of time that you want it as an option whether you use it or not. I also had pitocin & cervodil to induce my labor both times. They administered too much with my daughter and had 2 contractions at once. So it could be I had way too much pain from being induced. Idk. My friend had a baby a month before me and said it was EASY and nothing at all. So unfair! Lol
I went through 26 hours of labor (contractions every 2-3 minutes) with no pain medicine whatsoever. My body didn't progress much though, so I ended up having a c-section after all those hours. definitely don't be worried that you can't deal with the pain, because you can if you believe that you can!
I had it with both kids with my first pregnancy it only worked on half my body because I stupidly let a student do it (never again) the second time I got it it worked AMAZING I couldn't feel anything I loved it having a 9 pound baby I wouldn't have been able to do it without. but after I had terrible sinus headaches where I had to go get a blood patch done because I didn't listen to the doctors about laying still for 30 min after the baby I sat up and I walked so that was my fault for not listening. but as long as you follow the doctors instructions I say go for it:)
epidural for me. had it with my first pregnancy and everything went good. will be getting it with my second if it's not too late by the time I have to go in.
I was induced both times, and had an epidural both times. First one didn't work. It made my belly numb on one part, but I felt everything else. Second one was perfect because it took the edge off without numbing me. I could still feel contractions and everything down there for when I pushed. I will say I dilated quickly after both, but I'm very sure it's because I was just beginning to dilate quickly anyway. (I'm also pretty sure I wouldn't have needed it if I wasn't induced. I went most of both of my labors without them. First one I got the epidural, delivered about 2.5 hr later, and the second I had the epidural almost 1.5 hr.)
I went without an epidural. I made sure my doctor, nurses, doula, and husband knew I wanted to be pushed through it. I even had a room at the hospital where you are not allowed to have one. If you chose to have one they take you put of the room. I started screaming that I wanted it. Thank God they pushed me. I do not regret one bit going all natural. It was the most pain I had ever felt in my life. I told my husband multiple times I wanted to die... but the instant pain relief I felt when I started pushing made for a pretty much euphoric feeling and I am so ready to do it again. If you don't want the epidural, pretend like it does not exist, act like it is not even an option. If I had went into the hospital tho king it was an option i.would have asked for it as.soon as I got there... but instead, I didn't ask until the last 30 minutes. Which is too late to get it anyway lol.

I'm going to go as long as I can without one. I don't want it to stall my labour.

I'm trying to go without it but if I need it I'll get it, I haven't made a solid decision I would like to see how my labor is first

@jlf240, it actually makes labor go faster cause your body relaxes and doesn't fight the contractions causing you to dialate faster.

@cubanese, @tenecia it made me dialate a lot faster then if I wouldn't have gotten it so maybe that's just me. 👌

There's still a possibility that with my twins and my condition, I can have a vaginal birth. So, my crazy ass wants natural. I know I'll regret that.
