so, once again my midwife has brought up castro oil. I told her my concerns and She said it is safe as long as its in a small dose and as long as you're fully hydrated and STAY HYDRATED. idk yet if I want to try it but I'm considering it. my doula is encouraging it too. everyone is on the same page that we want to avoid a cesarean so she has to come before the 8th for that to happen.
we are trying everything else before we resort to it.... but I'm curious.... not for heresay or judgement... but who has actually tried it? what are your personal(!!) experiences with it?
again. I'm not saying I am going to use it. I'm not looking for a lecture. I'd like to hear personal experiences before I decide.
Note: I know it wasn't a personal story but she's a little scarred from the trauma so I'm definitely not using it.
My friend had horrible diarrhea with it during her delivery and her husband had to keep cleaning her up! She said it was a nightmare.
There's a girl on here that took over care of her niece who was a baby born because of castor oil. If you search #prayersforcamiyah you can see the story of the little girl. She ended up passing away sadly. RIP its not something that should be recommended for any reason. If baby poops in the womb and swallows it, it can be deadly for baby.
@rachel8792, she told me to try it if I don't go into labor on my own about 3 days before my scheduled c-section. I'm also doing a lot of walking and raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil both orally and inserted every night. I'm thinking about asking if they can use folly bulb induction the day before the c-section to see if we can get her to come naturally before we have the c-section... I just really really want to avoid cesarean. I have 4 older kids (my 2 plus my 2 step kids) plus having a nb it would be a rough recovery...
@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, lol she used to work at a birthing center. I see a different midwife at my next appointment though.
The 8th is still some time away. I went into labor 1 day before my scheduled induction, and boy am I glad. I walked alot my last week, 2 hours at a time, it sucked, and made me swell pretty bad, but it got the job done thank goodness. I honestly didnt feel comfortable with the castor oil option, but I did walking, squats (pregnant version), bouncing at the edge of the bed, primrose oil pills, and sex. I think it was the walking though since thats all I really focused on in the final week.
@rachel8792, thats how I was with my first 2 babies. as much as I'd like to let her just come when she's ready I don't feel like I have that option. I am scheduled for a c-section on the 8th and I really want to have her naturally. the thought of another c-section scares me but they won't let me go past my due date. :/ it's a lot of pressure.
Honestly if you arent comfortable with it, then you dont have to do it. Think of it this way, your baby wont stay in there forever. It may feel like forever, but in less than a couple weeks, you will have your little baby here. There really is no rush, since at the end of the day, the result is a baby, and the baby will come when your body is ready. :) You got this
Trust your gut!! If you don't feel comfortable then don't do it!! I've never heard of a doctor actually recommend it before so I'm kind of surprised.
