your son is covered under your medicaid for the first six weeks but when he's born or asap you are supposed to call your DHS worker to add him to your case so he can get medicaid also, and it takes a while for the birth certificate to be there but be sure you go to the county clerk and order it or mail the fee and paper to order it, and the social security card should of been applied for at hospital if it wasn't you have to call social security

He will automatically be on Medicaid & you will be dropped (depending on the plan you have some plans will keep mom but you have to pay monthly) but when you receive his birth certificate and social security card you will have to take that into the Medicaid office for them to update his info. I have two kids on medicaid and that is how it worked for both of them. Then if you ever move, income changes, household amount changes you will want to report that, they are not afraid to drop you without letting you know. They've dropped my son because I didn't turn something in and I didn't know it until I took him to his eye dr. So just keep up on everything with them.

He already on Medicaid then you'll get card in the mail soon, you'll be dropped off Medicaid after 30-60 days

and they give him almost like a temporary ss number until you get his real one.. call dhs and ask them what all you need to get him insurancw!
