I am so fucking pissed off at my drs office. I just had to find out from the hospital that I am beta strep positive but my drs office has known for over a month and never fucking told me. I seriously just called the ob nurse and left them a pissed message and I am so pissed because now I will be getting even more medication while in labor and they will be watching him for 48 hrs and doing tests on him to make sure he is healthy. I have never been so pissed off in my life. How are you not going to tell me something that could harm my damn child? #mamabear #dontmesswithme
@mommys.girl, That probably depends on the hospital. I was there for 48 hours after he was born, not three extra days.
I was told if you're positive you get the iv antibiotics and you have to stay in the hospital 3 extra days
It's like a bacteria your body produces, some women have it some don't it's nothing serious but they give u antibiotics during labor so you don't pass it to the baby. You get the test some at 36 weeks if I remember correctly and they jus swab u @ashly0414
I had strep b and all that meant was that I got iv antibiotics. My baby didn't have any additional tests or anything.
You're suppose to get antibiotics every 4 hours once u go into labor up until the baby is born. Make sure pleaseeee that once u start feeling contractions head to your hospital because u want them to give u the antibiotics on time. My baby is currently in nicu because I was also positive but my labor went by super quick there was not enough time for the meds to react so he did not contract it but his white blood cell counts was elevated so they had to put him on a 10 day antibiotic treatment. And you don't stay 3 extra days, only the baby does if he has to get the 3 day or 10 day treatment. Good luck!
