I'm going to share my story well it may not exactly be a pleasant one and most likely won't happen to any you I would like to share my experience. I went into the hospital last Friday at 11:50 pm because i was nauseous, having trouble eating and couldn't keep my blood sugar up. After much debate i was kept for a 24 hour urine where they determined i was borderline on preeclampsia. i am also a type one diabetic and was induced at 37 and 2 for hypertension and borderline preeclampsia. I was induced Sunday June 12th at 11 am with a dose of Cytotec to soften my cervix (keep in mind it usually takes 4 doses to jumpstart labor) by 2:30 right before it should of wore off my contractions were 30 seconds apart and i was placed on oxygen because my baby girl wasn't breathing well her heartrate was very flat with no accelerations. When this didn't work i was given to IVs of fluid to try to space out the contractions this didn't work either the next attempt was terbutaline which again didn't work. After hours of using the peanut ball to try to get my daughter to move into position i gave in and asked for the epidural where i was pressing the extra button for pain every 15 minutes for two hours just so i could sleep for an hour . At 11 pm i was checked and i was dilated to a 6 but only 80% effaced still it was progress and my room was set up for birth. The next nurse checked me at 1:30 and i had made no progress they said it still could be awhile. When the doctor made her rounds at 8:00 she said that I wasn't able to dilate further, my hips weren't wide enough to have her naturally, and also her heartrate was beginning to increase it was decided that after being in labor for almost 22 hours that a c section was the best idea. I was told it'd be 45 minutes to 2 hours but they started prepping me anyway. 15 minutes later they come back in and say ok let's go. Once back there they kept trying to get me to numb but I couldn't so i was put under general anesthesia (sleep) my mom was kicked out to the hallway but couldn't go back to the waiting room where my boyfriend and the rest of the family were anxiously waiting for any news. My daughter was born at 9:22 am that day. She was transverse (on her side) and the umbilical cord was right above her head. It took me almost half an hour to wake up and i was having trouble breathing and was on oxygen till 8:00 that night, because I'm diabetic my daughter was taken to the NICU where she spent the first three days of her life stabilizing her blood sugar we actually just came home yesterday. So while my induction story isn't a pleasant one i can honestly say a c section saved my daughters life.

Tonight after a 16 hour natural labor I met my daughter for the first time. Tonight something happened to me that I thought would never happen to me, that I would be sending my daughter to a children's hospital 2 hours away. Tonight I never got to hold my daughter or spend time with her. Tonight I had to watch her be poked and picked at and could do nothing to comfort her. Tonight all I ask for is that my daughter get all the prayers she can get as me and my husband have to be away from her while she fights.

Got to the hospital at 4 am to start my pitocin, well.. I was put on the drip at 430 am , and was 4cm dilated and 80 percent effaced, an hour later. The nurse came in to check me, hours later, and I was at 6 cm. I got the epidural at 6cm.. But it didn't work for me, no more than 20 minutes later, I couldn't take the pain, I was screaming and crying.. And felt everything.. most terrible pain ever, I called for my nurse to come in and she checked me again, said I was ready to deliver, babys head was there. About 30 minutes of pushing, and 8 stitches later, 10:40 a.m. I gave birth to the most beautiful, little girl in the world, weighing 5 pounds and 8 ounces, 18 inches long! Welcome to the world Scarlette Jayde, youre so perfect.. and were so blessed to be your parents!! Even though I felt everything, and the epidural didn't work for me, I have to say the pain I felt was so worth it!!!

I had my little guy at 4:01 PM today. I got an epidural during hour 2 or 3. I was in labor for 9 and a half hours. Epidural lasted until the last 30-45 minutes, so they put a higher dose in and I didn't know I was 10CM I only felt the pressure in my bottom but I was so gassy and I thought it was gas pains. Nope. Went from 3CM to 10CM in less than 2 hours. I didn't tear but they did cut me. I literally didn't feel anything. But he looks like his mommy. He came on his due date
