my so works full time and i still need medical and food help. it is so hard to get ahead these days.
I believe so, because you can be working three jobs, making enough to cover bills and such, but still need government assistance. I consider that independent. as long as it isn't mooching. if you have a job, and need a little extra help I consider it independent.
I don't think so. You're not independent if you have to rely on government assistance.
