I'm 29 weeks tomorrow, my princess was weighed at 28 + 4 weeks however she's under the weight she should be and is 2lb 6 so there has been talk of giving her steroids to mature her lungs incase of an early arrival or incase they need to induce me.
Has anyone been gone through this, If so did you have to stay in hospital for a long time and how many weeks were you when they induced you?
No problem hun, Hopefully all is well with the placenta in which case they'll probably just monitor you some more before they decide, even if you have to stay in hospital you should be allowed to leave for a few hours and come back so you should still be able to have your baby shower. Aww bless her hopefully she stays put until she's due lool xx
Ohh I see, well at least I know a little about what to expect next week as they will be checking if my placenta is working on Wednesday. I hope I don't have to stay in hospital cause I have my baby shower in 4 weeks lol and this madam seems to think she's ready for the outside world lol 🙈 thanks again Hun @nadsx316 xx
Aww no problem hun, i'm glad to share my experience. This was like 10 years ago now and my hospital policies so things may be considerably different now but here goes lol... I'm not entirely sure if you'd have to stay in because when they gave me the steroids it just so happened that it was during my stay in the hospital, tbh I was always tiny so I was never going to have a big baby and had severe morning sickness throughout. My baby was fine though and they estimated her to weigh 6lbs 6oz at birth but she was 6lbs 3oz and perfectly healthy, we went home the next day. They always knew she was small but they weren't really concerned until the midwife noticed she was measuring small for dates, this was at my 28 week midwife appt so she sent me for an emergency scan and they found the midwife was right to be concerned. They then had me coming in weekly for scans, she started putting on weight but then she slowed down again and wasn't measuring where she should be on the chart and by the time I was 36 weeks they decided to keep me in and I stayed in hospital until she was born, I was barely allowed out to go walk abouts lol. I was told that if my placenta was failing or had completely stopped working that they'd induce me as they felt the baby would do better out than in. Depending on the severity of the placenta not functioning properly would be the difference between a c-section, emergency c-section or induction...they were also monitoring me daily for hours on end for reduced movements xx
Oh my gosh 😳 so if they give me steroids does that mean I will have to stay in hospital because that bit wasn't explained I just assumed that I would have to come in for medication then go home? How many weeks was you when they said ur baby wasn't putting on weight? Did they say what they were going to do if your placenta wasn't working properly? I have a scan next week to see if my placenta is supporting her enough. Sorry in advance for all the questions that are going to be asked right now 😂 and thank you so much for sharing your experience @nadsx316 xx
I did with my first born, I stayed in hospital for 4 weeks they changed my diet and brought me down for ultrasounds everyday, I was also given the steroid injections. They said "she wasn't thriving in the womb". They then decided that as she was still putting on weight albeit slowly they would leave her inside and monitor her because my placenta was fine but if at any point she was to stop growing they would induce me. Anyway on her due date she still hadn't arrived so they decided they were going to start the induction the day after, when I got round to the labour ward we found my waters were trickling out slowly and I was 1cm dilated so they didn't bother and kept me there but I wasn't really progressing (this happened about 1pm) by midnight I was only like 2cm so they said if by 4am I still hadn't progressed they would give me the drugs to induce me, unfortunately at 4am things were still the same so they started me on the drugs, by 8am contractions were thick and fast but I was only 4cm so they upped the dosage. They brought the consultant who tried to force me into a c-section but I refused as although I was tired myself and baby were fine so they upped the dosage again, by 11.45am I felt the need to push and looked down and saw the very top of her head and she was born at 12pm. Hope my story helps a little x
@ceecee190, Yh please do, thanks hun xx
