Baby is having trouble gaining weight and I am exclusively breast feeding. Any pointers to helping my baby girl? I want to stay as natural as possible and not give her formula. I had a natural birth and haven't taken any medications since giving birth.
But she's only a week. Did you have your first doctors appointment ? Babies lose weight before they leave the hospital then gain it back. Like my daughter was born 6.13 and was 6.4 when we left the hospital and 6.9 at her doctors appointment
Tickle her foot, ear or cheek and feed on demand. During my daughter first couple days she woke up every hour to eat as well
@verobaby, my doctor is pro breast feeding. I will ask what chart she is comparing my baby to.
@wiccanmommy, she hasn't gained weight since birth. She'll be two weeks this Saturday.
@mookie1, she will eat every hour but she falls asleep. Im having difficulty keeping her awake while feeding.
if it's your doctor telling you see what kind of chart they are comparing your baby too. those charts are average weight & height of formula fed babies. my doctor is pro breastfeeding so when my son's weight slowed down after 6 months like most exclusively breastfed babies do she let us know.
age, how often is lo eating? how do you know she's having trouble with weight?
you can always try triple feeding. where first you nurse, then pump, then feed your baby some pumped milk through a syringe (the syringe is to make sure she swallows it without causing nipple confusion)
