u should tell her to look into getting hypnotized if ur minds set on quitting smoking and ur ready to quit its gonna definitely work! it's well worth the 165! its such a blessing girl. I feel so grateful to be a 'non smoker'

@pups011, that's so great to hear. She said she was quitting for the baby 5 months ago. She still smokes the same amount. Still coughing everyday. :/

@mamamoonbaby, yes I feel you!! and yup it helped me so much. and I don't even think about it and I smoked for ten years. quitting is the best thing I ever did. maybe your sister will be inspired to quit by your baby?

@vb95, I agree. I'm leaving the state so it'll be hard for them to visit.. But yeah I'd rather not have third hand smoke in my place or near my baby

Honestly if they're that heavy of smokers, I wouldn't have them around my newborn. I know she's your sister, but maybe go to an open area and visit, so if they do smell like smoke, your house won't smell like it @mamamoonbaby

@mommy_of_3, I will smell it on their clothes and skin. And I won't be able to "inspect" them everything they come in the house. It's not worth the stress or risk to baby.

My mom smokes but she goes outside to do it. Just have them was their hand and if you can smell it on their clothes and breath make them change their clothes and brush their teeth.

@alexusasia420, yeah that'll get old real quick. While I was staying with them they actually thought it was ok to smoke cigarettes at night in the living room.. I'm not going to babysit two adults while caring for a new baby for the first time. Nope.

@junesmommy15, good for you! And that is very thoughtful of your mom, well now at least. Yeah hand sanitizer to me just spreads it around your hands. I have toxic-free hand soap that I use and IF they'll be around her the first few months they will use as well.

Yep. My husband's people are very defensive in their smoking habit. They hated me. I was determined that my child would not be around it. I hate to be around it. My mom smoked all of my life and now she'll never light a cigarette in front of me because she know she was the cause of my breathing problem. I hate anything that smells like smoke. My mom would shower on her own knowing that I hate it before she came over. I don't do hand sanitizer. That's so lazy when you are next to some soap and water.

@pups011, I'm glad you did something to help you quit! the washing up to the elbows won't help when they snuggle her next to their faces or place her on their clothing etc. I will be already be exhausted I cant imagine scolding two adults daily.

@vb95, smokers in my family tend to be very defensive of their habit. My mom also smokes heavily. (She won't be visiting baby for other reasons lol) I'm not uncomfortable at all protecting my baby. My sister said she would quit and that was 5 months ago and no change so..

I used to smoke myself but got hypnotized and I HATE the smell now so I can imagine that it would bother a baby who's never even been exposed especially the after smell. its disgusting! stick to that too. maybe not shower but def the smoking shirt and wash up to their elbows every time

Yeah they will definitely need to wash up after, just be firm about it, don't feel awkward or uncomfortable asking them or anything. They should be taking the precautions because there is a baby around @mamamoonbaby

Their clothing and blankets reek of cigarettes and I know for a fact her partner does not wash her hands. Ugh. They will need to full on shower and change their clothes EVERYTIME they want to hold baby if they stay with me so I'm thinking not.. unfortunately.

I didn't allow smoking around my baby. especially since he was a preemie. everyone smoked away from him and I made them wash their hands or germx. and I keep him in my room all the time anyways lol

Unfortunately my fiancé smokes cigarettes, he only smokes outside, when he comes in before he touches Elliot he washes his hands and changes his shirt, and sometimes I make him wash his face

Hell to the no. They must do it away from my baby. And wash their hands. After done if they are gonna smoke.
