my daughter just turned 7 months. she is my first baby, so obviously I held her all the time when she was born. I held her to go to sleep which was a big mistake because now that's what she wants. in fact she cries to be with me all the time. how can I start making her go to sleep on her own and sleeping on her crib all night by herself? its so hard to let her cry it out because I feel like I'm a bad mother with letting her cry. helppp!!

My daughter is 7 months too!!! She sleeps by herself in her crib but I started crib training at 3 months. Here is how I started. Laying her down in her crib at nap times to start. Make she is good and sleepy with a full tummy and lay her down BEFORE she falls asleep. Make sure you lay her down when she is nice and relaxed and calm. If she takes a pacifier give it to her and let her fall asleep in the crib. Mine faught sleep bad so I had a blanket that I wore under my shirt with me scent on it so they felt like I was there and lay them on it. If she fusses that's fine. I could never do the full cry it out but if the baby is just tossing and fussing I let them try to fall asleep on their own. DO NOT PICK THEM UP unless they are screaming, console them, rub their back and talk softly to them and see if they calm down on their own. It will take some time but before you know it you will lay them.down and they will fall asleep without crying or fussing and sleep great!

Opinions on crying it out?

Opinions on crying it out? My baby is 8 1/2 months old. I've tried the no tears method and it worked a couple times but now it doesn't anymore. I do squats while holding her and rock her (21 lbs baby) for over an hour each nap all for nothing. My friend said she did cry it out and by the 3rd day her baby would only cry 5 minutes and now he's totally fine with sleeping in the crib. Opinions please? I am the only one who actually raises my kid. My fiancé does not help and I have no family that helps. So it is very hard on me. Thank you Edit: because clearly some of the women on here think I'm a monster. I am an EMT. When I go back to work, I will be gone 24 hours at a time. My daughter is almost 9 months old and cries every minute she is not in my arms. As much as I want to comfort her every second of the day, I can't. And it's better I get her used to sleeping on her own now, than not letting her cry and all of a sudden mommys gone for 24 hours at a time and she completely loses it and I can't just get off work to comfort her.

I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!
