I just saw something that makes me NEVER want to breast feed again... I may never give my baby bottles ever again for the sole reason to avoid this happening to my poor boobs...

this is from a lady in my area who had a clogged duct, and when she found out she did and it hurt to nurse she stopped nursing and solely pumped and gave bottles. and pumping wasn't enough to pull the clog out, like nursing would, before damaging her duct.
ladies, if you suspect a clogged duct KEEP nursing. always start on the side with the clog, take measure to work the clog out. it won't just go away if you don't massage and nurse it out.
if your baby isn't nursing hard enough to pull it out make your husband/fiance/boyfriend do it (gross I know, but this is worse than nursing you SO for a few minutes. lol)

Geez I've been nursing for almost 6 months now and I've never had a clogged duct... I hope you are as lucky as I have been!

@aboutellesbabe, so far all I've had is a milk bleb, which is like a clog only the clog isn't in your duct. it's skin that's grown over one of the pores milk comes out of, but you basically see what looks like a milky blister on your nipple. i got it after my split nipples healed up. all I did was poke a hole in it and squeeze FOUR ounces out of that one duct. After that it was over.

4 ounces!!! Omg!! Yea I feel so lucky. I've gone a night without pumping or nursing and that morning I woke up in so much pain and my boobs were so hard and sore and humongous haha I'm so lucky that I didn't get a clog or anything! I guess it's a good thing yours healed quickly. Hopefully you won't have to go through anything like that again!

@aboutellesbabe, I know! 4oz in one duct seemed crazy to me! but we has nurse multiple times with it clogged so each time my milk let down more milk built up in the duct.
I try my best to prevent clogged ducts (there's a herbal supplement you can take that prevents them actually it starts with an L, Lethicine or something like that) mainly because I don't want mastitis which can be cause my clogged ducts. I hope I never get either one.
