Can you pump before the baby is here and freeze the milk ??? First time pumped here HELP!
Your milk doesn't come in until after baby is born. Anything before that is colostrum and is difficult to pump and save. Plus it could cause you to go into labor.
Yes you can. But I would wait until closer to labor. If you pump, freeze the colostrum in syringes. And bring them to the hospital in case the baby can't latch right away. If you're not going to breast feed and just pump then freeze it in bags and bring it to the hospital. But I would wait til way closer to labor.
The lactation consultants I talked to said don't do it. The milk is made by the body with the right nutrients for the baby's age so milk pumped at let's say week one has different ingredients than milk pumped at 4 weeks. They basically said don't try to stock up some crazy amount like some people do.
I mean like near my due date and if I do pump and freeze do I bring the pumped milk to hopsital with me when I'm in labor?! Im going to pump only and not breast feed ..
I'm lost
you can in your last few weeks of pregnancy. I wouldn't recommend it now. It makes your uterus contract and your don't want that right now.
What @alyen2 said. You wouldn't get much if anything until baby comes. Bring your pump to the hospital and start pumping there.
