literally just sat here and cried with my son.. I've been trying to exclusively breastfeed but since he was at risk of jaundice they made me supplement with formula at the hospital.. now it seems like no matter what I do he doesn't get full.. I'm trying so hard not to give up..

you can do it momma! i had trouble too with my first because he got a bottle the first night when they took him to the nursery and then he didn't really take interest in nursing after that it was so frustrating.

It'll get easier ! It took us a month to get the perfect latch and for him to actually want to nurse . Sometimes they just don't get it so we have to show them:) it's rough but it will get better soon!! Hang in there❤️❤️

If it's too hard there is nothing wrong with doing both!! Do what works best for you! My son is formula and breast fed and it's the perfect system for us. He still nurses every day multiple times😊

@3xmeislove, @mommy_faith @myliltadpole1116 thank you all for your words of encouragement it means so much! what I've found hardest is the night.. and running on no sleep.. and the feeling that I'm not making enough to fill him up.. thank god I'm past the sore nipple stage..

I struggled with it for so long constantly doubting myself and feeling like I wasn't making enough for him. The reality was that I had enough milk it just wasn't enough for him. I have a big hungry boy and it was just not satisfying him enough. I had to put my feelings aside and do what was best for him. That looks different for everyone but for us I had to supplement and we are sooo much happier! Plus I still get to breast feed him😊 I thought my milk would dry up but I just kept nursing him whenever I could or whenever he wanted and I still have a lot of milk actually😊

The first couple weeks are the hardest because he's also nursing for comfort. I know it sucks but you got this mama.

@mommy_faith, @sev1226 now I'm even more worried because I took him to his check up and he has jaundice :'( I think I'm going to try supplementing.. I wanted to be able to feed him on my own but my baby's health is more important than my selfishness

I didn't know jaundice had to do with breast feeding? There is a baby in my breastfeeding support group with bad jaundice (she likes a little Oompa Loompa, Orange!) and her doctor just said to take the baby for lots of walks.

Just give the baby the bottle and nurse so that way your supple stays up if you want to breastfeed

@sev1226, my doctor told me it happens when the baby doesn't eat enough.. that's why they're having me supplement with formula for now

You need to do what is best for you and your baby. I got a lot of shit from breastfeeding moms when my doctor told me to introduce cereal at 4 months because my son didn't gain enough wait between 2 and 4 months. I listened to the doctor immediately and then did my own research and found a solution that fit with my plan and the doctors plan. We have a weight check next week and if he hasn't gained "enough" the doctor will suggest supplementing, and I have no clue what I'll do if it comes to that but what my lactation consultant told me was to listen to my gut and you can always says, I want to give it another week or two or whatever.. Which is my plan but dealing with weight gain is different than what you're dealing with. My little guy is so happy and sleeps like a champ so I feel like I have a little leeway and mamas intuition in my situation... Oh! One thing that we do, it's kind of off the cuff, we use a medicine dropper that holds 3 TSP and I mix Breastmilk and cereal and suck it into they then I'll nurse and give him the mixture and I'll do that a few times so that way he thinks he is just nursing and I do t jeopardize my supply

@sev1226, they gave me something like that to supplement at the hospital.. its a medicine dropper.. kind of like a syringe with a thin hose attached that I fill with formula and put in the corner of his moth while he's nursing.. as he's sucking on my breast he gets formula and breast milk.. I feel so bad tricking him but id rather do that than just give him the bottle.. when I tried the bottle it took me a bit to get him to latch on again

That's exactly what I was talking about. Happy that's working for you. You're not tricking him, you're ensuring that your body continues to make the milk he needs. Good luck!

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
