I was just wondering. Can you diet while pregnant? I weigh a lot!! and I want to lose weight. I'm not sure if you can or wait till I have the baby. I'm 23 weeks tomorrow. if so what diets can you do can you go to the gym??
I'm type 1 diabetic and although you should not actively diet, you could just eat healthier options. I can't drink regular Coke unless my sugar is low, but Coke Zero is a good substitute. And I love it.
@angmill123, I seriously just use a potato masher to get it into tiny pieces and then add seasonings like I would potatoes. I'm sure there is probably a recipe online but I wing it. It's good and it helps fool me a bit sometimes. Or even substitute half potatoes half mashed up cauliflower? That may work too! Just lower your carbs/junk food and think of it as eating to get all the vitamins you need to help baby grow instead of like a diet. :-)
okay :) usually we don't eat out much. but I'll try the cauliflower. how do you make those?? @rgaine
Side note: didn't give up everything. I still go to Taco Bell or grab a burger every week- just not every day. And when I do go I don't order a dinner out AND dessert. It's only one or the other. I started at 238, dropped to 227 (mostly cause I felt crappy first tri and have held steady.) Doc says I'm looking healthy and is happy so I'm gonna keep it up and hope I don't gain too much.
Yeah, try replacing smashed and ground cauliflower for the mashed potatoes- so good and maybe you can fool yourself. Not sure what to tell you on the coke- that's definitely empty calories. :-/
@rgaine I'll keep that in mind. I have been craving coke and mashed potatoes which is not good at all!! just gotta find something to cut that craving out.
okay @chichi1975 I was gonna talk to the Dr when I go back. I was just wondering what everyone else does.
Only eat healthy and don't give into the eating for two and eating snacks that are the size of meals every day and you'll lose or likely stay the same. I will be 23 weeks tomorrow and am getting a good size baby belly with no additional weight gain. But I'm mindful to eat an apple instead of 8 cookies. Or if I want a cookie to eat one and eat healthy the rest of the day.
okay :) that's what I thought. in the beginning of my pregnancy I lost like 7 pounds and they said it really want good. Now I am gaining well I've gained 3 pounds back. But I'll go walking. :)
Ask your Dr as long as I eat right and continue to do the exercises I was already doing if I don't gain and lose a bit he is ok with it probably due to I'm not small and I already exercised daily
Just eat healthy- ur really not supposed to lose weight while pregnant - I know because I wanted to do the same but my doc told me no- also if you've never been to the gym before the pregnancy rather not because your body will work extra hard being it'll be the first time in a while and it might cause problems . Swimming and walking is healthy though and might help maintain weight and keep u in shape so u won't Gain too much
I met with a nutritionist that my insurance paid for well worth it
