Can someone explain supplementing with me??? I am really pro breast feeding and I'm going to pump however I work and go…

I always put him to breast first though, hoping to stimulate my milk to let in.

I had to supplement with my son because I didn't make enough milk no matter what I tried. So I would nurse with him when he was hungry but then when I would run dry, if he was still hungry, I would formula feed till he was satisfied. When I was at work I would pump every chance I was able, to keep my supply.

Also when you're at work or school, make sure you continue to pump. Your work and school should be understanding of this.

If every time you nurse you pump the other boob and store it you will have enough milk. The more you feed and pump the more you will produce. I'm looking at deploying in December and I have to start pumping and saving everything so when I'm gone my son doesn't run out. Don't pump for the first couple weeks, as long as you're home full time with your baby. Then slowly start pumping on the side and giving your child a bottle once a day of breast milk. That way the baby gets the breast milk still. Because I only have one son I think I will start pumping after or before he eats. After you empty a boob it fills right back up with milk to keep up with the supply. So it never goes empty.
