North Korea-unbiased explanation
Is anyone following what's going on between the USA and NK? I can't seem to find an unbiased neutral article explaining what's happening. Can someone help me out?
I think when the president openly disrespects the office of the presidency, it kind of leaves a free for all for everyone else...
Why respect the presidency when the president doesn't? ?
If you ever made remarks about Obama you have no room to correct people either, just like Trump has no room to complain about how "mean" everyone is being. Pretty sure every president goes through rigorous scrutiny.

I respect the office, but not the man. He has no reason to expect respect and is, of any president I personally can remember, and insult to the very office he holds.
And talk about teaching our children things. How about being an aggressor against, to the point of being ok with starting a multi-country conflict, a country that's crazy, but currently harmless, by throwing a first punch at someone who really can't do us harm. Nothing like international bullying ?

Just because i lost respect to him when he said that doesnt mean im showing my kids that. So dont make assumptions please. Ill respect him once he repects others thank you ?
@Diane- is that what you teach your kids? That they can disrespect someone they have a low opinion of? Shouldn't we respect everyone, despite our view of them or how we view their treatment of others? And even if you don't feel he deserves respect, doesn't the office he holds deserve respect?
@steph do you not notice all the people who STILL don't respect Obama. That's why we live in a free country, so we can openly dislike our current president.
First off, like Trump or not, he is OUR president. Be respectful of the office he was elected to hold.
Second, if it's a matter of us or them with this nuke business, it seems pretty simple to me. US! I'm all for casting the first stone when it comes to protecting our land and our citizens.
And before I get bashed for defending Trump, I don't agree with a lot of the things he does and did not vote for him. But show some damn respect.
Is a whole ball of bat- s*** crazy is what it is. You have NK being run by ego-maniacal turds who feel immense internal pressure to prove themselves a world/military power which they're in no current position to hope to fake at, but more than willing to try.
Now you have the commander in cheese acting like a schoolyard loud mouth poking the crazy nest with his own crazy stick. I don't think it's a huge threat to us directly, but he is goading them to act in ways that are not in their own best interests and may, because of our inevitable retaliation and their allies' need to respond, bring about a lot more serious a situation than just standing back and watching the inept craziness.
I think you've all missed the point to be honest. Park Geun Hye and her family were only ruling because it served the US (it was only successful because the US and secret service backed them in the military coup). Over the last few years we saw the South Koreans step back and then revolutionise against the puppet government, calling for Park Geun Hye to step down. This shook up the US as it might mean that decades of NK requests for a peace treaty might actually be on the table, it might also mean the US control over SK wanes and they may not be allowed to have all of those military bases in the area (the goal is to surround China) under a non puppet government so they stepped up the McCarthyism. It's the same pattern everywhere the US installs a puppet government, but the propagndised aggressor changes to suit each scenario.
In the past the US has always been subtle in it's approach but now Trump is in office, he has little understanding of the history so he's making threats that for once, may actually cause some real issues.
The NSL itself must be terrifying to the people of SK, they have no voice and are controlled by it so even if they do speak out against the propaganda against NK they are thrown in jail for 7 years.
To truly understand you need to go back to the lead up to the Korean war shortly after WW2, and everything since then and you'll find you may have a completely different opinion on who the aggressors are. The US creates the perceived 'threat' purely to control resources, land, governments etc, and if it loses its control over SK it loses its very important military base positioning near China and Russia so it needs to continually portray NK as a threat so the SK/NK divide is maintained and the NSL remains in place.
It happens yearly. If you take Russia for example, statistics show that each year between March and May the western media start to introduce propaganda in to the mainstream in order to maintain the McCarthyism effect. It's now the turn of NK but with such unstable leaders now in place on both sides, this may not follow the usual pattern and may have serious consequences. NK will soon blow, as I said previously if you poke the bear for long enough it will retaliate.
I just wish we could all get along and lead a life free from the elitests capitalists who use us as cannon fodder to maintain their profit.
I'm not sure what will happen with all of this but I support Trump. He cant just allow a country to threaten us like this.
With that said, I'm a little concerned about The Winter Olympics being hosted by South Korea this coming February. Hoping that idiot "supreme leader" doesnt get any bright ideas about attacking many countries in one swoop.
Honestly I think NK is all talk because they know what we are capable of. NK is tiny compared to the US and for one we have allies that are willing to help.

I'm not scared of any of this because we have more of an advance in technology and "warheads" that it's stupid to even think about for someone to want to mess with us.

I think it's all pathetic. Especially from North Korea's point, they started it all by finally figuring out how to miniaturize a weapon last year and are now in its 6th test for its long range capability. UN is trying to get them to calm down because there is no use for it or should have no use for it. They are doing that knowing it raises tensions but have their artillery pointed at South Korea for collateral if anyone chooses to try and test them. I hate it so much. Poor South Koreans...
NK has been threatening us for years. This goes back to previous rules and presidents. Something is going to have to be done or they are eventually going to have a nuclear weapon that can wipe out most of the US. Today they have decided to start threatening Guam also. Super scary situation.
Can the world please go back to muskets and simple weapons ?

basically, NK keeps trying to flex their nuclear arm by running all these nuke tests. US called for tighter sanctions on NK with the UN. NK is now pissed and making threats to US. US is saying we won't take those threats lightly and that we will fight back.

Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. My kids do not have to "respect" (if by respect you mean not vocalize their disgust with him) him.
They will be taught to respect the office if the presidency AND the Constitution by:
1. Using their constitutional right (1st amendment) to speak out and petition against sexism, racism, and bigotry. This includes assembling with like minded people to protest these issues.
2. (Unlike the current president) upholding the tenets of the 14th amendment by speaking out against anyone or anything that does not ensure equal protection under the law for all (see number 1 again -- ????-- if needed).
3. Exercising their 15th (and 19th) amendment right at 18 (see the the 26th amendment) to elect a president who is not sexist, racist, or a bigot. One who is worthy of personal respect and honor.
Please miss all of us with the "respect him he's your leader b.s" --because we are not domesticated animals, we don't just blindly follow our "masters." We are people, people who happen to live in a democracy. A democracy that was conceived of under the premise that "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government..."
