so my new born has a big crying problem and the only thing that works is me holding him. what can I do to make him stop crying without me holding him?

Newborns cry because they need something.. Hungry, wet, need to be held. Needing to be close to mom is a genuine need, especially during the fourth trimester (if you haven't already, you should read about. It explains a lot). Unless LO is crying for three or more hours, three or more times a week at the same time (colic), are fed, burped and clean, they may just need mom.

That's not a crying problem. that's how newborns are. they were inside of you for however many weeks. they are used to being close to you. it takes time to adjust. just because they cry doesn't necessarily they have anything wrong with them other than they want mama. it takes time for them to adjust. we used a swing or bouncer. both of which are cuddly and holds them more snug. just give it time. try baby wearing that way baby is happy and you have free hands.

They want to be held. That's where they feel safe. If you need to do something try a sling.

Sounds to me like colic my first son had it. It was me or his baby swing it was my life savor.
