no does not mean c-section I had my boys vaginally at 37 weeks and 1 day

full term for twins is 37 weeks so 38 weeks is great!

it ultimately depends on baby A. if he is head down then your good to go! see with me Baby A was head down and baby B was breech, but cuz they were similar in size they did a breech extraction on baby B. So twins does not automatically mean c section and having one be a breech doesn't always mean it either. So just as long as Baby A is head down you are fine!

@double_mommy, why are they wanting to deliver at 38 weeks? sorry if that question is being nosey. I am carrying identical twins and as I read people's post about twins I get curious.

lol me too @mommyofidenticaltwins I'm not sure. my endocrinologist told me this morning so I'll ask my OB when I see him next but I'm diabetic which makes me high risk so maybe he doesn't want them to get too big? I'm a huge fan of waiting on baby. I trust his decision but he just hadn't said anything to me about it my endo. was reading his notes. @twinmamma2015 that makes sense. I guess I'll just have to wait and see! I would much rather deliver vaginally.

definitely I felt the same way!! definitely glad I had vaginal birth!!! @mommyofidenticaltwins my ob explained it to me, that full term is 37 and 38 weeks. If you go longer you run the risk of them hurting each other or accidentally clamping off their own umbilical cords cuz they're running out of room.

Oh your welcome @mommyofidenticaltwins definitely with them sharing a sac makes it a lil more tough, my boys are fraternal and had their own "condos" as my dad called them lol they each had their own sac and own placenta. but they still run that risk cuz there is only so much room they can get. my boys were born 37 weeks 1 day. I had them Friday at 607pm and 614pm and we were discharged from the hospital around noon that Sunday. So when ppl say 37 weeks isn't full term it technically is and definitely is for twins

@twinmamma2015, I am hoping to have a vaginal birth myself but we will have to wait and see when that time gets here.

Yeah that's what I did @mommyofidenticaltwins I talked with my docs about vaginal birth, but told them that I know twins can be unpredictable so if I absolutely needed a c-section I was ok with it, but only if there was no other option. I was very thankful to deliver vaginally, I had a few bumps with labor but all in all it wasn't bad at all

I think that's what I'll do. I realluv want a vaginal birth but if it comes to it and a c section is necessary then that's ok.

Yeah I was scared of a check as well @mommyofidenticaltwins cuz it's a major surgery. But as long as your open to any kind of delivery is what's important. But like I've said as long as Baby A is head down you ladies can definitely have a vaginal birth! You may want.to see what your options are for labor. At my hospital they couldn't monitor both babies if I were to walk around, so ultimately I was stuck in that bed the whole time so I had an epidural and cuz they were gonna have to do a breech extraction as well. So when the time comes talk to them about what you should expect and what you can and can not do.
