Ladies, before you file your taxes don't forget breast-feeding is a tax break! The government will refund your money that you put out for breast-feeding supplies.
@sev1226 I unfortunately didn't qualify for this deduction 😳
@sev1226 yes true..but if the total doesn't exceed 7.5 of your adjusted gross income you won't qualify for the write off.i believe the IRS states anything to help increase lactation can be used for the breastfeeding tax deduction.
I believe it's not just the purchase of the pump itself but also nipple shields and other accessories @rosalinasmami
there's a rule unfortunately to this write off: "The new ruling means that families can use pre-tax funds from flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts to cover these costs. For women without flexible spending accounts, the cost of a pump will be tax deductible if their total medical costs exceed 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income (that threshold will increase to 10 percent in 2013, as a result of last year’s health care law)."

Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
if you made 45,000 last yr you would have to have spent roughly $350 a month every month, on breast feeding supplies for it to be tax deductible. And have receipts in order to itemize as it would be a $4,500 deduction. That's on the low end it just keeps going up the more you made in the year. unfortunately it is a unless deductible for most of us. @sev1226 But good looking out, there may be a few women that can use the deduction and don't know about it.
