Ok so I found out my fiancé has been lying to me about smoking cigarettes in our house today. I don't smoke. Never have, never will. Grew up around it but I hate the smell. It makes me choke when are it and I hate my clothes smelling like it. I know he smokes but I've told him over and over do it on your own time or go outside or to your car. I thought we had the issue cleared up. But today I find a box that he's been using as an ashtray. A empty pack plus lots and lots of ashes and butts. I've came in and asked why it smells like cigarettes in our room and he would just say I don't know. He's lied to me to my face several times then about this. Just so disgusted and fed up right now!!!!!!!

Thanks y'all. This is actually something that I've talked a lot about to him. He thinks it's not a big deal. He knew how I felt about and then started lying and hiding the butts in cans and boxes thinking I wouldn't see. He seems to forget I'm the one that comes behind him and cleans and throws out all his mess so of course I'm gonna find them. I'm pretty sure he started lying about it to avoid hearing me bitch about it.
No you can't tell a "Grown man" what to do but he should have the respect for you to not smoke in the house. I use to smoke cig and my other half doesn't, I respected that and smoked outside. Just let him know that it really bothers you and you wish he did it outside. If he can't respect that then you might want to rethink things. "That's just what I think" I hope he listens to you girl. I'd tell him as a compromise vape in,smoke out...my husband capes and its so much better than dealing with that smell and a stinky smelling man...my mom dont smoke and is also with a smoker..her door sign reads"if your smoking in here you better be on fire" no one wants to know what happens if they get busted smoking in her house....i hope you can come to an agreement
And plus he was always a smoker. We been together over a year and he didn't start until about 6 months into our relationship. When he's off work and around me the whole time he goes 2 or 3 days without smoking at all. He also vapes which I'm cool with. I've told him if he has to have anything to vape but yet he keeps lying to me over it.
And he can do what he wants on his own time. But when I pay half the bills in our household i believe I should have a say so in what goes on in it.
you can't tell a grown man what to do. it isn't just you. smokers are going to smoke that'd just the way it is.
This has always been an issue with me and my man. I didn't know he smoked in the beginning of our relationship (we were long distance) and then when I did found out I told him its me or the damn nasty ass cigs. So he did get a vape to help him quit. And I definitely prefer the vape over the cigs. It still has nicotine but at least the smell isn't horrid and nothing to clean up after. You just need to lay your foot down sometimes..
