I'm going tomorrow for genetic testing (Jewish and uncertainity of genes) and the nuchal. I'm 13 weeks, Will they be able to tell me the sex of the baby?

there is a specific test that can be done this early and it will determine gender, I had 2 blood tests done and the first one came back abnormal so they did the second (mine was called materni-21) and that one came back fine but also told gender

I'm not sure the the Jewish Ashkenzi includes gender but at the NT ultrasound they may be able to tell. I already knew at my NT as I had the Panorama test before it and it includes gender. Jewish Ashkenzi was too expensive and I don't believe we have any Jewish or E European roots.

since the test is elective or Dr ordered, its considered an "extra" and a lot of insurances don't cover it.

depends on the specific test they're doing. theres a few different ones. but for most (like harmony) would be able to tell you, since they're looking at chromosomes. and if there isn't a Y chromosome. its pretty safe to say its a girl. and vice versa. results take 7-14 days typically.

Is it common to do the test or is it extra? ?
