Do anyone give there 1momth old water? My pediatrician told me not to cas he could choke but I still do my mom told me to cas baby do get thirsty. Idk if it's A Caribbean thing lol
@rosalinasmami, I do, I use his water when I don't have his gripe water or mylicon on hand
for hiccups, he usually gets them after he eats. he is breastfed so he doesn't need it as much as a formula fed baby.
@nickysmom89, just a lil a day. I'm Jamaican n my mother gave all her kids water and she sed babies should get water. Idk she do sum opposite stuff from what the pediatrician told me
@denore, I agree with @rosalinasmami it does nothing for them they get nothing out of drinking it that young. They don't need water its either formula or breastmilk.
@trosmith39, do you give him water as a remedy for hiccups or just when he gets thirsty? I almost snapped on my MIL for suggesting this I thought it wasn't good for babies. I learned something new today 😊
I give my son water, no more than an ounce at a time, but he has about 3oz total throughout the day especially if he gets hiccups and I don't have his milicon or gripe water on hand.
I don't think your suppose to give babies water until they are 6 months. Breastmilk is all they need. Or formula. there is no nutritional value in water. they don't really get thirsty like toddlers or adults. Even at 6 months they still don't need water. lol
My so's aunt is a nurse and she said a little water can help with stomach problems like constipation. She said it's perfectly fine!
