OMG, my nipples hurt so bad from breast feeding and I only started 24 hours ago!! Doctors gave me cream and stuff but they are getting worse with each feeding and doctors said that she's latching good so idk why they hurt so bad!!! Help! Ways to relieve the pain!?
rub breast milk on your nipples after feedings then let them air dry.
if you're using something like lanolin cream or anything like that be careful not to slather it on 24/7, although the cream is helpful if you use too much too often it actually dries your nipples out and makes it worse.
a nipple shield will help, but be careful your baby doesn't become dependant on a shield to latch.
I also got this stuff from Walmart it's in a yellow tube that says "the first years nursing care" it's lanolin free nipple butter. it's 100% all natural and safe for the baby to ingest if it's still on your nipple when they latch. once I started rubbing breast milk on them, letting them air dry, and putting a small amount of the nipple butter on after each feeding my nipples healed up within 2 days.
you can always use a shield, it really helped with me when I first started. :-)
There are these gel nipple pads that you put In the fridge so they're cold and then put them on your nips after feeding. It's amazing. Or even ice packs.
Do feedings often like every 2 hrs and rub your breast milk on your nipples!
I also used the honest company nipple balm and I like that a lot better than the lanolin that is often recommended
the pain happens to everyone. in about a few days it'll go away as long as you continue the cream & don't put soap on your nipples in the shower wash them with warm water only.
mine started to bleed. I couldn't feed or pump. didn't hurt until we went home I went almost 3 weeks bf the blood made me give up. that's when depression started.
Mine hurt the first week or so like reallllly bad. I didn't think I was going to be able to continue. But I stuck through it and now It doesn't feel like anything at all!
