So me and my husband were talking earlier today, this is our first child and I'm still in my first trimester, but when do we start baby foods? Should we start stocking up at any point? What kind of baby foods should I start off with? I know I have a long time to wait but I was really curious about all these.
really depends on the baby as well as personal preference. they say when the baby is able to hold their own then they are ready to be introduced to solids. if you are breastfeeding you may want to exclusively for the first 6 months and then introduce solids afterwards but that is personal preference
you can start solids any where between 4-6 months. make sure your pediatrician OKs it if you start at 4. don't worry about stocking up. Breastmilk will still be babys main source of food. you'll usually start with rice cereal mixed breastmilk. then slowly move to fruits and vegis. you can make your own baby food if you want too! it's pretty easy! there's recipes on line, and they have the Baby Bullet which has a book of recipes and age by age food appropriate foods! your pediatrician should also explain it a little and may even give you a handout to help!
I would definitely hold off as long as you can. I started at 5 months and my baby has been constipated every since. He's just now getting better at 7 months
