@brebre106, just make sure to tell the hospital when you check in that this is going to be "baby (dad's last name)". Most will make note of it.

@brebre106, You're probably talking about my post. Like the other girls said, you can give baby any name you want, but when she's first born all the initial stuff will say "Baby Boy/Girl your last name." None of those are legal documents, so don't worry.

my first was born a month after I married his dad. my last name was never changed, he took his dads last name. my youngest son was born right before the divorce was final (I ended up keeping my maiden name) we hyphenated his last name so he has mine and his dads last names.

me and my Fiancé aren't legally married yet, but our bundle of joy will still have his last name. we were planning on getting married in April but I don't wanna be preggo when we tie the knot, so we pushed back the wedding til late August.

I wasn't married when I had my first 3 kids. When they are first born everything will say your last name but when you sign the birth certificate you can put the dad's name but he will have to have some form of ID for then do it.

yes that's not a problem I'm married but didn't have my husband's name when my son was born

If you put him as the father on the birth certificate you won't have any issues. Quite frankly you can give you baby any last name. Some states have different rules about proving someone is the father but when it comes to the last name you should get to pick. If you don't make sure you speak up.

i mean youll have to change it later and that might cost money when you can just give the baby his name from the beginning..
